hi lads and lasses, i went to b&h this weekend, had a long talk with the audio guy, who essentially advised that i just wire the shotgun right into the camera and monitor it carefully as i shoot (as opposed to buying a $600 mixer). is this the standard method? am i crazy to think i can get by...

Hi, Is it bad for the DVX to act as a vcr? For something like recording a whole tape, rewinding the whole thing in camera, then transferring to computer, is that terrible for the heads to do on a regular basis, or is it ok? Absolutely critical to buy a deck or cheaper camcorder for playback...
