I've got a bunch of old super 8mm shorts we shot as teenagers back in 1971. Is there a way to reduce the flicker and clean these up a bit in AE CS3? Am capturing from a VHS tape, where the original super 8 films were transfered years ago.
Here's a link to one...
I just put together this test video of our, ahem, ultraradionic telecommunicator...

I shoot two different ways on my DVX-100A; 60i for footage I plan on speeding up or slowing down ( especially miniatures) and 24PA for "film look". I'm wondering what applications might warrant shooting in 30P? What differences are there between 60i and 30P?
I found this Opteka OPT-HC15 case on Amazon for $29.95, originally listed at $79.95. I later discovered 47th Street Photo has it for $24.95, but since I had gift certificates, who cares...
I've never actually used the DVX-100A's optional on-camera microphone shock mount (have been using a boom pole), but thought I'd give it a try with my DIY steadicam rig. When I mounted my Azden SGM-1X shotgun mike to the camera, it seems to move around quite a bit in the rubber mount, even...
In the book, "Killer Camera Rigs You Can Build" (2003 by Dan Selakovich), there's a plan for what he calls a "Dark Passage Dolly". Basically, a 3/4" sheet of plywood with in-line skate wheels and pvc pipe tracks. Looks like an inexpensive, straight forward build, but am wondering if anyone has...
I've been carrying my Sure SM-58 in its original soft case and my Azden SGM-1X in the box. I'm wondering if there's a small hard case available which might work for carrying both. Seems some of the people packing up after last shoot were a bit heavy handed!:furious3:
Is there a way to create scrolling titles in AE CS3? If I create a scrolling title in Premiere Pro CS3, will AE recognize it? What's the best way to do this?
I'm putting together an "over-the-cliff" shot, which I created by backing up to the cliff edge, starting the camera and driving away. I've time reversed the layer in my AE project, so it appears our vehicle is headed right for the cliff. Now, how do I speed up the clip?
While this is a...
Is it possible to convert DVX-100A widescreen footage to 4:3 in CS3? Would a tiff sequence be the best way to import into PS? How would I create an action to repeat the conversion to susequent tiffs/frames? Any help is much appreciated!
I want to try some "invisible man" type effects using a green chroma key hood. Is there a different technique here than using a green screen backdrop? Any tips for shooting and keying out in post are much appreciated.
In, "Ten Minute Film School", Robert Rodriguez duscusses how he used 200 watt color corrected light bulbs in clamp-type painter's lights while filming, "El Mariachi". Where can I locate these bulbs?
Trying to render a three minute project in AE CS3 to .avi file and received the following error message:
"After Effects error: An error occured while writing T(-2147205010) (53:25)". The .avi file is saved on an external USB hard drive with plenty of storage available.
What does this mean...
My DVX-100A has approx. 75 hours logged and I need to address a couple on maintenance issues;
First, there seems to be a build-up of sticky substance around the battery compartment, which makes the batteries difficult to properly engage. What's the best way to clean this area?
Second, I just...
In "The DV Rebel's Guide", Stu Maschwitz covers extensive color correction in After Effects using adjustment layers. What about doing corrections for black and white footage? Should I use individual adjustment layers on each color clip to tweak shadows, highlights and midtones with levels...
I set my XP preferences so that my remote camcorder opens Premiere Pro CS3 when I switch it to VCR position. I'd like to disable this function so Pro doesn't fire up every time I turn on the camcorder. How is this done?
I'm usingf a Phillips 19" flat screen TV as an external reference monitor with a DVX-100A. Will I get better picture quality using an s-video connection as opposed to RCA plugs?
The Phillips picture is decent, even though it's an inexpensive TV. Just wondering if it's worth buying an s-video...
Want to upgrade to a faster video card from my current 256 mb ATI All-In- Wonder 9600. Am running XP on a Dell Dimension 8300 with dual 2.8 GB processors, 3 GB of RAM.
Any recommendations?
Thanks.
