Restoring old super 8mm film?

I've got a bunch of old super 8mm shorts we shot as teenagers back in 1971. Is there a way to reduce the flicker and clean these up a bit in AE CS3? Am capturing from a VHS tape, where the original super 8 films were transfered years ago.

First I will say leave the flicker! I know people that spend many hours trying to create flicker that does not hold a candle to your footage.

The only way I know of is a keyframed color correction. Adjust each frame to match the surrounding frames.

Also as a side note I am pretty sure you can not legally use the green preview screen unless your film has been rated by the MPAA.
