A slapdash, unplanned reenactment of American Psycho. We used a cheap 126-LED lightpanel, 2.8 lenses (Tokina and Tamron), a 7" LCD for monitoring and a Zoom H4N to record sound.
It's not great at all, we shot and starred in it, so...
Hi all
So I received my followfocus20 from Tim Ovel over at indisystems today... but I can't put the thing together properly. The large circular piece (on which you can attach a crank or whip) doesn't stay fastened to the thin metal rod it slides onto - and there doesn't appear to be any way to...
Hi everybody
First of all, please don't jump down my throat for not getting pro equipment. This stuff is for my first short film - I've spent a lot of my money on getting the locations I wanted, lenses I needed, sound equipment and tripods/dolly systems. I know that lighting is just as important...
Hi everyone... I'm looking for a tutorial or some guidance on how to use Color to grade superflat images. I've found tutorials that pertain to Magic Bullet and Vegas, but nothing for Color - and the interface is so baffling I might as well be trying to sail a U-Boat!
I know Brandon Mozza...
One and all
Am constructing a rig, and am quite new to things - so wanted to start a thread to ask for some advice along the way, and hopefully avoid the pitfalls.
I want a counter-balanced (preferably tapped) shoulder mount, with a follow focus and a 1/4" mount for a 7" LCD screen. If possible...
Hi all
I'm about to buy a Manfrotto tripod and head for video use.. I would like to spend under £180 (and am willing to buy second hand on ebay).
Would ideally like to be able to use the centre column horizontally for overhead shots, but this isn't a necessity. I use a (standard) glidetrack...
I mean, really? £400 on these things? Are they really that essential? As in, can somebody show me a comparison of footage with and without? Or are they mainly for show...
And why do they cost so much!!
Hi there, I'm trying to put together a decent shoulder mount rig that allows me to stabilize my footage and to mount a 7" LCD monitor.
I would ideally like to purchase within the UK as I don't want to get stung with big import duties and shipping costs. My budget is around £200.
Thanks,
Dom
Hi all,
I'm about to start shooting a narrative short, mainly tripod/glidetrack stuff - and I need to increase my ability to focus.
My question is, should I go with the LCDVF for £110, or a full 1080p, HDMI 7" external LCD monitor for £180? I can imagine the screen being somewhat cumbersome at...
Can anybody recommend some books to start me out in Final Cut 7, Photoshop CS4 and After Effects? Or maybe DVD guides/websites instead?
I'm not totally new to FCP (I've taken some experience with me from Premiere) - made these two videos with relative ease...
Hello! I've ordered my Tamron 17-50 and since I've been making do with the nifty fifty so far, I'm eager to try it out. A forthcoming project will require quite extreme wide angle shots, and I was wondering if the Tamron (at 17mm) would be able to pull them off, or if it will be necessary to get...
I just bought a remote timer to do some timelapse shots, and realised I'm going to need a power adapter... the only one I can find is £75??! There's got to be a cheaper option - anybody?
Please bear in mind I'm living in the UK, so I need something compatible with our power source!
Thanks
Hi - unusual request here - I'm relatively new to after effects, but a new project I'm working on requires some quite advanced effects on AE, which I'm unprepared for.
I'm shooting a narrative short in which the characters (and their surroundings) are infested with ants.
Something a little...
I'm in the depths of indecision regarding steadicams. There's the Glidecam HD2000 at the top end of my budget, and many others vying for me to take a chance on them at only a fraction of the cost. Top of the pile of 'fake' Glidecams are the Hague range...
I don't want to imply that these two things are the same - but the fact is that I'm on a very limited budget right now - I've prioritised all the right things (lenses, sound, editing equip). I also have the igus SD glidetrack on it's way to me.
I really need an on-the-go form of stabilization...
