Cheap 7D rig for stabilization and focusing

Hi there, I'm trying to put together a decent shoulder mount rig that allows me to stabilize my footage and to mount a 7" LCD monitor.

I would ideally like to purchase within the UK as I don't want to get stung with big import duties and shipping costs. My budget is around £200.

Thanks,
Dom

i just ordered an indirailspro

ill do a review when it comes in

i FULLY suggest waiting a little
i got a little bug that sent me this about indirail stuff

a new setup designed for the t2i and lighter cameras. supposedly SUPER light. integrated carry handle. Im trying to get him to develop a 15mm rail based handle to move the COB as well.

This little video is not uploded yet but when it is have a watch of the relationship between stability and focus

I just dont get (unless you have an AC to pull focus) how people expect to get any usable footage from any rig where one is not closely connected to the focus wheel -or massively weighed down

Im waiting for a manufactuer to post and prove me wrong

BTW the rig shown is only 1.5 X your budget including a FF

yeah, ill be testing some stuff for indi products here in the next few weeks once they arrive, and ill be able to give more insight into it. I personally use the DSLRsm and love it. but i have alot of stuff, so i use a 10lb counterweight lol

This is all great stuff.... would be happy to go up to £300 if necessary.

However, I don't see any options that include a mount for my separate LCD screen? Can the Indisystems be modified for a screen? Any info on this?

Is it easier to simply attach the monitor to the hotshoe of the camera? Or would that result in the screen being too high up for me to comfortably see it?

I need a weighted shoulder mount, follow focus and external LCD screen mount - preferably from a UK supplier.

Links would be ideal!
Thanks, Dom

Hey Yokotas, do you know when that new IndiSystem set up will be released? Can't wait to get my hands on that.

ill ask tim when i talk next

the arm has a hole on the bottom that it can mount to
the bottom of the camera plate (where the tripod is attached) has some extra 1/4" holes. or you can call tim when you order, and he can put a 1/4 hole tapped wherever on the rig youd like it
you can see here where it is screwed in

That follow focus is £50 more than my budget for the entire rig....!

Well if that's your budget then I think one option would be to get a D|focus: http://www.dfocussystem.com/dfocus.html

the D|focus DSLR mount: http://www.dfocussystem.com/dslr.html

and attach those to one of the Cameragrip shoulder mounts: http://cameragrip.co.uk/acatalog/Shoulder_Mounts___Steadymounts.html

Or you get some D|focus 15mm rail mounts, a 15mm steel rod from the hardware store and figure out your own set-up spending some DYIing time.

And then for LCD monitor mount check with music hardware stores for microphone snake arms - can be had pretty cheap but you'll have to figure out how to attach them to the rods. One way would be getting one or two Redrock Micro mounts:
