S1H new price

Z9 was also spotted at the Olympics. It actually makes sense to the cartel to release higher end models with much more narrow niches during a down year and wait for the mainstream models when there's an anticipation of a rebound in sales.

And XV-E10 is getting nice reviews, most notably for its pricing. Even with more jello shots than a Saturday night frat party.

I saw some 30fps-ish "video" of skateboarding at the Olympics from the R3. A burst of proper stills at video framerate in sequence in real time. Oddly enough, I thought it looked like ****. I guess the iPhone really is the future

So, it seems like 24 MPX is it, the same as A9II. Now the video features come to fore. A9II is 8-bit. Surely, R3 can do more, without fears of cannibalizing the R5 sales.

BTW, when it comes to features crippling, it's pretty hard to top Sigma FPL. The EVF is $700 extra ($500 if purchased as a kit), which makes it the same price as A7IVA ... which isn't crippled besides its 8-bit video.

General opinions on Panasonic from the land of the rising sun is that their executives would like to find buyers for their digital camera division (among others) but no one is interested in buying it. There will be corporate restructuring in October and what news it will bring for the digital camera division is anyone's guess. And anyone guesses that there may not be a Panssonic digital camera division for much longer.

First R3 videos are out. "Sorry, but I can't show you any footage". Well, then STFU. A YouGoober with another product placement ad.

I really like the size, weight, and "feel" of the S1H. I picked up my daughter's A7 a few days ago and it felt too small and delicate for my hands. I'm not sure I'd be interested in any camera that was much smaller than an S1H.

Aren't you just going to hold it by the lens and panhandle anyway? My A7SIII is primarily a gimbal camera and thus I rarely grip the body during operation. But even so, it's larger than the a7 series. There is some room between the S1H and a7. And if you're interested in holding the camera, then I think it's the size and shape of the grip itself that is most important. (Although yes, dinky buttons suck)

I think the S1H is in a class of its own in its uncompromised version of a highly mobile cinema camera. I still can't see any other competitors that tick all the boxes I need ticked.
I agree with Doug the camera couldn't be any smaller without compromising handhold ability I shoot with two the more "mobile" one I actually put a battery grip on for better handheld functionality.
I pair the cameras with leica rangefinder primes because of their size I find smaller lenses work better with the IBIS I currently have the 28mm 1.4, 50mm 1.4 and 90 f2.
I hope the next iteration will come in a 1Dx or canon c70 type body with a larger screen but the same or better VF.
My choice of camera is not mandated by economics ( I could easily buy an FX9 and corresponding glass for the price of the package I use)
here are some screen shots of a doc series I am producing and shooting about female longhaul truckers. everything is handheld and on the go.

Icarusfilm, I have to concur with you, keeping in mind that it is all subjective. It works for me as well. Love the cinematic images.

Those shots look great!

Absolutely. It is a full-featured FF cinema camera hiding in a mirrorless body -- that can be taken anywhere wtihout attracting attention. The image quality is better than the FX6. Much closer to the FX9.

Jared the Fro Polin showed off R3 ... except he wasn't allowed to say anything about it by Canon ... so, it was a free ad for Canon with no substance whatsoever ... but the YouGoobers have to play ball with the manufacturers ...

Going to be $5,999 (via CR).

IMO, too much of an asking price, but still will be a #1 seller by November per usual.

To me, this now hints at the 8K model being more.

Nokis*hita says 6,099€, VAT included in Europe. Which is about 5,100€ w/out VAT. The US pricing is generally on par or lower in $.

Of course, that was before the year of another "easing" by the Fed. The Japanese and Korean cars are getting price bumps too. Though that also reflects production problems of the US manufacturers.

PS. Sony A7SIII retails for 4,200€ across the pond, which is 3,500 + 20% VAT (at least, it was priced like that upon release).
