S1H new price

I think that’s the problem with the “hybrids”
i wish someone at one of the camera makers would realize that there is a customer who simply wants a cinema camera in that size. Take the s1H ditch all the photo crap and autofocus enlarge the lcd make it brighter add electronic NDs call it S1H PRO and I’ll buy it for 5-7k

I would say the BM6k pro is pretty much there for what you are asking for. Or at least as close as any maker will go at this point in time.

And FX-3, FX-6 and C 100, 200, 300, 500 too. But the new generation of cameras seems to be on its way.

Off the early previews of the preproduction samples - R3 has a very narrow appeal. If the eye control works well, it'll be a boon to the top end sports, action and BiF photographers. Its video wasn't quite ready - no Raw 6K yet - but R5 beats it on specs and price and A1 on specs. It's an odd camera,

The R5 doesn't beat it on specs if the R3 can actually record at length without overheating

I felt a bit better about my (nearly half-the-price) a7siii when I saw that the R3 120fps is pixel-binned. It probably still looks good, but high quality 120fps has become an unexpected must-have feature for me, and without worrying about overheating either

BTW you were right about the form factor. The R3 is substantially smaller than the 1dxmk3. It's the 1D-style bodies that I think are unnecessarily tall and wide for shooting video and could be a real hindrance. That being said, since my mirrorless camera lives on a gimbal, I'm happy for it to be as small as possible a la the A7 line

They might/should release R5c without the overheating (or with mitigated overheating). And there's the Ninja 5 8K/5K Raw external recording. Off the early clips, it looks pretty nice, has no overheating and is ~ $5,500 total. To me, that's the best deal right now.

Yeah but then you're married to an external recorder while not having the option to simultaneously record internally. And a lot of people feel like 8K is overkill... I think I'd take 6K internal for an extra $500 over 8K external

Anyway, these are all photo-first bodies. For the money, I'd rather have an FX6.

Yeah, I know, I agree - but people seem like they don't stop buying cameras.

I myself bought too many cameras in 2020 and they were just for fun.

A complete waste of money...but it's a hobby (and I don't mean only the cameras but buying stuff is a hobby).

Come on already. lol

Either AI/B&H is incorrect or people are cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.

Preorders take many new cameras to the top of the charts. The subsequent cancellations, if any, don't matter as much when the product starts shipping. But it is the most recent major release in a long time (two Fuji's weren't it) and, after the slowdowns, people are eager to try something new.

Sort of like GM selling all of their C8's.

I, for one, plan on pre-ordering the a7iv as soon as it's available and probably canceling it later. The wait time to get cameras these days is just insane but there's no penalty for canceling

I recently tried to buy a used Sony A7 S3 from B&H that became available during a Jewish holiday closing. I put the order through as soon as ordering opened up and it was in my cart until I hit affirm payment but somebody beat me by less than 2 seconds. So now I ordered a new one from them. If I don't want it when it's finally available I can cancel it or return it. You cannot get an a7siii anywhere right now and used bodies are selling for above the list price when they are available

I've been saying Panasonic should have an S1H firmware version that trashes anything photo related. Of course it won't happen...

With that said, I am still extremely happy with the S1H. Often gets used over other "cinema camera" options on my bench.

Sony Alpha Rumors now says that A7IV will have the A7SIII body. Leave the lights on.

actually that's pretty interesting. first of all, it means it will have full-size HDMI. I was ready to walk away from the a7iv over micro-HDMI alone. 2nd, it means that it has cfexpress-A and the same heatsink. maybe that just means it will shoot fast photos. but if it means that it's pumping out a lot of video data, then the prospects for HFR look more promising... would I buy it if it didn't have full-frame 4K120fps at full readout? I dunno. (OK, the a7siii has a 1.1x crop in 120fps)

also, a used a7siii is only $500 more than what we expect the a7iv to cost. less of a difference than the full grand between new bodies of each model.

there's also a chance i wait until next spring to make a move since i really only need this 2nd body for weddings, and wedding season largely ends for me in mid-november. still stuff after that but slower and then dead come january until like april or may

Thanks norbro but I got beaten again. Maybe I'll get another chance at the end of sukkot

I got outgunned again on a used fx3 at the end of shabbat last night. i thought maybe i'd have a chance if the fx3 is in lower demand than the a7siii...

starting to feel like getting in early on an a7iv preorder is my only hope, even if the specs are below my desires

I can get an order in in about 11 seconds after frantically refreshing the page every second with the keyboard and seeing when the B&H button is enabled.

If you're competing with people like that or faster, that's the window you'll have to be in.

11 seconds? please, I must have had it through in 6 as soon as purchasing was allowed. i was refreshing the page constantly, so there couldn't have been more than a 2-second delay between purchasing opening up and my purchase being permitted. i must have confirmed in 8 seconds or less after the starting pistol. but only 1 buyer will get the item

my first 2 attempts were comparatively sluggish. but then i practiced the moves while checkout was open and got my sequence down pat. my 3rd attempt last night was flawless. the only imperfection was that I was on my phone using 4G, and with such a short margin of defeat, the latency on your connection could prove decisive. but in any case, if there is a tie, only one buyer can have the item

There's one on eBay from Focus Camera (NY/NJ) but their website says back-ordered.

Place has mixed reviews but they've been around for a long time.
