A reluctant sheriff is forced to confront his town's true source of crime.
Hopefully my writing skills are better than my photoshop skills. Sheriff Badge courtesy of kelihope at stockexchange.
I got to see the spy-thriller Hanna at an advance screening last night. Overall, I think this movie had some great ideas and possibilities, but failed to fully realize them, primarily at the story level. It was very nicely shot, had a cool soundtrack from the Chemical Brothers.
The story...
I was really inspired by Azmyth's thread on lighting cinematic, and really appreciated the insight from Perrone and others on that thread. With a shoot coming up this weekend, a new camera and light kit, and not enough experience putting together lighting setups, I figured it would be...
I shot an event on two cameras, both set to 60i. One was HD, one SD (4:3). Clips from both were placed on the timeline of an NTSC widescreen project.
The SD clips were cropped to widescreen. HD clips were also cropped slightly. Minor colour correction applied, nothing else of significance...
I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the mechanics of recording wild lines at a location shoot. I understand the idea - recording extra takes in case you can't record sync sound like on a really wide frame, or as insurance against any problems that may have come up in the sync takes...
Since I sold my HV20, I am also getting rid of some accessories. Up now is a cinecity matte box with a 43mm adapter for HVXX and other like threaded cameras. The matte box is this one here. Looking for $65 shipped to Canada/USA. The french flag is not pictured but it is included.
I've sold off most of my gear so I can pick up a Canon 60D, so the only camera I have right now is a 10 year old Sony Digital8 (DV on Hi8 tapes) that does surprisingly well for itself.
I popped into London Drugs to pick up some tapes for it, and hot dog, 2-packs of Fuji Pro tapes are on sale...
Here is a simple poster of posters I put together. I know I'm stealing all your hard work (especially Rodney's) so if you have any concerns or want yours out for any reason, let me know and I'll take it out. Conversely, if I missed yours and you want it added, let me know too. Hope you guys...
Who's panicking?:Drogar-Shock(DBG):
I'm not at panic stage yet, but I definitely have some concerns with certain software not working properly. We'll get something in, regardless, but I would be much happier if things worked properly.
Win 7, Vegas 9e 32 bit, dual core 2.0 ghz, 4 gb ram.
Trying to save an AAF file is not working for me. I'm editing the AVI's straight from a DVX100, audio is 44.1 khz wave files recorded separately. Saving as an EDL text file gives me something, but if I try to save the project as an AAF...
Just seeing if anyone here would be interested in a beat to snot DVX100A. Here are the details
DVX100A with ~600 hours on it.
Comes with Adapter, regular battery, large Panasonic battery that only holds about 30 minutes worth of juice, and a UV Filter.
The issues:
- No audio - it will not...
For anyone who's interested, jollyrogerxp has managed to hack the HV30 firmware to allow the user to switch between NTSC and PAL versions. More info at hv20.com

I will be shooting my WestFest entry in 24PA on my DVX100A in 16:9 squeezed and will be editing in Vegas Pro 9. A friend of mine is doing an animated title sequence for me, and I just want to verify what settings and format she should use for her final render.
I believe I should ask her for...

Am I missing something, or is B&H listing Vegas Pro 9 with the seminar DVDs for only $400?
Well, I just picked up a (very) used DVX100A off craiglist today. This thing is a beater.
500 hours, and it was dropped causing a fair bit of damage. The filter threads/lens hood assembly broke off, causing the focus ring to fall out too. Top handle was broken off and reattached. The top...
I may be getting a little ahead of myself as the contest hasn't even started yet, but I'll put this out there and see what comes of it.
Of all the aspects of filmmaking, editing is probably the one that interests me most. I love taking together bits and pieces from shooting and working them...
