Unable to use hack FAQ

i just spoke to a dealer who got GH1 2009 model in stock. he says firmware is 1.3. and serial number is W9G. is it alright to work with hack. pls guide me prompt an quick.

The serial number shouldn't start with W9G, but WE9G. If the number really does start with WE9G, and if the dealer is reputable (check the dealer out on resellerratings.com) and will accept returns (just in case), then you should do two things:

1) Order one quickly!

2) Give me the name, telephone, and URL for this dealer as soon as possible, grin!

Well. I have ordered one. n its still in stock. I spoke n confirmed that he will accept returns. the issue im worried about is banding and 'FPN'. that is found in older sensors. so i wanna know if some one has same serial. and has this problem. n, on what settings, i can test my camera to check for these defects. Would appreciate ur feedback. thanx

here is the link where u can get one.

Yes, as far as I know, all pre WEOF001**** are hackable.

Generally, it seems that non black GH1s are more likely to have an earlier serial number than black ones....

I am about to send my GH1 in for warranty work, and this really bothers me. One of the clasps for the camera strap fell off (the nut is still rattling about in the camera body), so I am really on the fence now about sending it in... I am a big fan of this hacked firmware, so I really don't want to risk Panasonic updating my firmware for me if I send it in for repair. I have owned Panasonic cameras in the past, but this is the first time I have had to deal with a warranty issue. Should I be concerned about Panasonic upgrading my camera to this new firmware, or should I just go ahead and send it in?

If you have to send it in, you could apply the hacked firmware so that it is named v1.34 with version checker on. Maybe the folks at Panasonic wouldn't be able to apply their own firmware!

Just out of interest.

Does the v1.34 block signal the end of the hack development?

I'm still searching for a hackable GH1, and have no doubt about finding one, as it happens, and the improvements so far seem to be more than enough to merit applause and a donation.

But, is this the end?

I understand that to circumvent v 1.34 it's necessary to get hold of the firmware. However, as the GH1 is about to be replaced, it seems reasonable to at least suppose that no further public firmware upgrades will be forthcoming - meaning nothing to decompile.

A spiteful last gesture by Panasonic?,
you sure it's being replaced? I thought the GH2 was an addition not a replacement?

Anybody wants to call panny to see if they'll send us the .134 firmware?

Hi,

Your website isn't up to date. The firmware on the website is the GH1__132.bin

My friend has a newer GH1 and it has version 134 installed on it.

Can you send me the GH1_134.bin firmware?

Thanks

Good idea.

"1.34 Firmware?"

"You don't need to see his firmware....."

(waves his hand)

"We don't need to see his firmware....."

"Move along now..."

GH2 is arriving around December 2010
Do you think that this means Panasonic will not come out with a new firmware update for the GH1?

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/digitalca...-compatible-with-interchangeable-3d-lens/3905

It's also possible it may mean the opposite!!

If new lenses (such a the 3D lens) need a firmware upgrade on the GH1, then we may see a new release. For example, since the 1.34 firmware is loaded on June 2010 GH1s and later, and there's no documented reason for the new release, perhaps it was done in preparation for the new lenses. Panasonic may not have wanted to post the 1.34 BEFORE the release of the GH2, so that the hacked GH1 wouldn't cut into sales of the GH2.

But eventually, if older GH1s have problems with newer lenses, then Panasonic MUST release 1.34

Maybe im just lazy and felt asking this straight up without reading pages and pages searching for an answer(which ive been doing without a solid answer for 45 minutes).

If i buy i brand new GH1 from BH, is there any way to hack it? Is there a new firmware hack? Can i downgrade the new firmware and then hack it? Im going to be using Nikon and Canon glass manually on it.

Version 1.33 in service menu - can't hack?

Version 1.33 in service menu - can't hack?

Well this is kind of a head scratcher. I purchased a body off of ebay (new), and the serial number is WE0A..... so I figured I was safe. I followed the instructions correctly (I think, but I will double check), but when I put the SD card into the camera it doesn't do anything. I tried __133, __134, __14 but nothing triggered the update.

I went through the service menu and got to the full firmware version, and it says 1.33. I have heard 1.32 and 1.34 talked about on the forum but not 1.33.

Is this another non-hackable firmware?

I've tried to go through the info on the various sites, but maybe I've missed something? Is the firmware from the panasonic site still the right one to download? I think it was 1.32 on the site, but maybe not?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Gah - sorry I did mess up. I didn't do the version increment right in the ptool, I had both version increment selected and prevent version compare selected and I probably messed other things up as well. It's updated now to 1.34.....fingers crossed. Thanks for all the work everyone!

Returning my GH1k :(

Returning my GH1k :(

Well i purchased a gh1k and a nikon lens adapter in hopes of using the firmware hack to get the bitrate up to an acceptable level only to find out the 1.34 is unhackable. I was planning on purchasing a GH2 as well once they were readily available and almost purchased a gf1 and was anxiously awaiting a gf2 for a more pocketable alternative. Kudos to panasonic for making such a lustworthy camera, but the corporate guys that implemented this 1.34 firmware are a real killjoy. Its a shame because i was really falling in love with the slow yet very versatile kit lens......

I cant do it. I just cant return it. Hack or not this camera rocks! But would rock harder with 50mbps Motion Jpeg

I hacked my Gh1 successfully once, just checking version increment (1 up to 133), prevent version compare and language options. Gave the patched firmware the name GH1__133.bin. Today I tried to hack a second time, using lpowell's high reliability patch. I set version increment 2 up to 134 and called the patched firmware GH1__134. I reformated the SD card, copied the patched firmware into the camera, switched the camera off, then on again, pressed "play", then "do you want to upgrade the firmware"-screen appears all right, but when I press "yes", instead of installing the firmware, a message saying "switch off the camera and then on again" appears. I have so far not been able to install the patched firmware.

Any idea what I could do?

I bought a hackable GH1 from ebay and Ptool is working but I'm not sure what I have to do with the created firmware files. I can't write them on my memory card because it doesn't allow me to do that. The firmware is 1.2.
Thanks in advance!

I´m sure this is covered somewhere, but I cannot find it.

I bought a hackable gf1, did a quick hack test with only one hack feature (30min removal).
worked fine.

Now I cannot do a second hack with more features. Always get the "no fotos" screen instead
of the "update firmware" stuff.

Any ideas?

thanks
a
lot!
