C200: Some good C200 footage appearing now!

So All the overcrank in these videos shot by C200's is mp4. 4-2-0 ? I have been critical of the notion of evaluating camera performance by viewing vimeo or youtube videos for a long time. I'll stick to that. THe german Vogue video looks really good and honestly could have been shot on any of the high end cameras I can think of, which speaks to the fact of how far these lower end cameras have come in a few short years. Geoff Boyle over at cinematography.net conducted extensive camera tests recently which included the C200 as well as Arri, Red and Sony cameras. His conclusion was that the gap between the lower end cameras and the flagship cameras has substantially narrowed. Clearly the imaging capability on lower end cameras has gotten to the point where its not about the camera any more ....

I agree with everything you said (especially the part about it not being about the camera anymore), but I'd hesitate to call the $6k-$10k "low end". When I'm on jobs and I see people happily making money with an A7s or GH5 or (not in a while) a BMPCC, I consider that the low end and would call the C200/300, FS5/7, Ursa 4.6k etc the mid range, with the obvious players being the high end.

the A7's, GH5 and BMPCC are really bottom end. I have a BMPCC and while I shot some nice stuff with it, its basically near useless as a camera.... practically speaking. So perhaps the mid range has lowered in price and gained a few more features placing it close to what were previously the lower end cameras?

LOL we need to make a chart. "Low end" and "bottom end" sound effectively the same to me...

For what it's worth, I shot some BTS when CNBC was filming the COO of the company I do most of my DP work for (Jesus the acronyms!), and they were shooting with GH5's. Totally viable tool being used by professionals and in a lower category than the Fs7, C200 et all.

I think you're on to something that the tiers are seriously in flux now. Also depends on what you do: If you're a vlogger, even one as rich as Casey Neistat, the C200 is probably overkill (I think he's using the GH5 and 5D IV); but if you're Roger Deakins those cameras are toys.

What is going on with Vimeo these days? Do they want you to be a Pro member just to watch videos now? These links take me to a join Vimeo Pro page...

I am also getting that link to become a pro member. Ridiculous. These days I am happy not paying money to vimeo. youtube works fine for me.

I brought this up on the EVA1 thread.

Folks who link to Vimeo should be embedding it on this site. Otherwise, it's PITA.
