GH4 Panasonic GH5 coming in 2017

GH5 FEATURE REQUEST to PANASONIC

I would like the GH5 to record video in a 2.39 aspect ratio. That means the picture size would be 3840 x 1608 or perhaps 4096 x 1712. This would be much more efficient for people shooting widescreen - no need to crop the picture in post.

Or even use the full width of the sensor, so 4608x1960.

I'm not angry about a thing, you're using the wrong tool for the job you want to do, buy a proper video camera. Lots of them shoot auto just fine and you can use them anyway you like. GH4 and DSLR's for video are bad choices for what you are trying to do it seems.

GH4 auto exposure works very well. Auto iso and aperture priority changes exposure buttery smooth and with sensible speed and normally it knows better than me what is the right exposure for scene.

It would still be nice to see what are the exposure readings when starting recording. I would like to know that the camera is not using very bad exposure values like too slow shutter or too small aperture or too high iso.

I think the majority of camcorders are not showing exposure values either. I dont understand why hide the very basic information. Camcorder has also usually worse quality.

There are a bunch of Olympus EM1 MKII reviews out. It seems like the sensor is OK but there's nothing new there, including the HDR feature. Continuous auto focus still hunts a bit. But the 5-Axis stabilization is awesome. Throw digital stabilization on top of that, add Warp in post and it almost looks like a dolly.

It's too bad the BSI tech is not available. The processing power took a huge step forward but the sensor itself is getting long in the tooth.

Are there any indications that the Video Autofocus is improved over the GH4? Something on par with Dual Pixel AF?
I would really like to use a GH5 on a gimbal without having to bother with a remote follow focus.

Something on par with Dual Pixel AF?

Given how the new Olympus EM1 Mk2 performs, I would expect the GH5 to have better autofocus, but nothing equivalent to Canon's patented DP AF. I have yet to see any other brand of camera equal the performance of Canon's DP AF, so I think it's very unrealistic to expect other brands to achieve this any time soon. ( in other words, if DP AF is the most important feature that you absolutely must have then buy a Canon camera )

For me, I'm mostly interested in a camera that produces a high quality 4K image, which is why I'm trying to be patient until the GH5 is released.

Panasonic has its own Depth from Defocus (or is it Depth from Da Focus?) technology. The DVX200 users are probably the ones to be consulted on its performance. It's the same sensor, though GH5 might have a bit more processing power.

DFD is not in use with Panasonic video. It works just with photos.

GH5 will have completely new 6k sensor.

And there is no "new" 6K sensor. It's the same sensor as in GX8, DVX200, Olympus EMD1 MKII, etc.

I have not seen this video but there is a possibility that the video is not true. In my tests the GH4 video AF goes often so many frames in wrong direction that the DFD cant be working properly. In 4k the AF is almost unusable and in 1080P fails too often.

How can GH5 has 6k photo (=6000 pix wide) with 5.2Mpixel sensor ?? Is Panasonic lying? I am not sure after watching that video.

GH5 has IBIS. GX8 and DVX200 has not. It cant be the same sensor.
