GH4 Panasonic GH5 coming in 2017

I posted this on the DVX200 thread yesterday (since they might share the same sensor, the same as in GX8) is that MFT could really use the Back Side Illumination technology to squeeze more DR/higher ISO out of this size.

And they can obviously use 10-bit 4:2:2 and a higher bit rate recording.

As to usability, getting closer to DVX200 may not hurt (though, it may hurt DVX200).

I think is needs to have some sort of in-camera stabilization, better sensitivity with low noise, & high framerate options. I am not optimistic about getting 4:2:2 codecs in a still camera though. We know V-Log will be there. I would also like more color controls. A way to make color profiles on your computer and load them like Canon has would be nice for very accurate color.

seriously, stabilization would be great. i hate the focus by wire rings on the panny lenses and would like stabilization while using my olys and voigtlanders. also like everyone mentioned, improved low light and dynamic range, more frame rates in 4K and internal 4:2:2, reduced rolling shutter. i'd also like better color science on all the picture profiles, not just LOG, but hey, i guess i should just be happy we're getting LOG.

i wonder, would reducing or eliminating the crop factor for video make sense? i guess it would depend on the sensor's pixel count.

I think the GH5 really needs H.265 C4K recording 10 bit 4:2:2 in camera at 200 Mb/s I-frame.

And some freakin' crop marks already!!! (1.85 and 2.39 at least.)

Or better yet, a record mode at the DCI specs for both 2K and 4K. (Why spend bits on unneeded pixels?)

Flat - 1998×1080 or 3996×2160
Scope - 2048×858 or 4096×1716

My wish list for the GH5:

4K 10-bit 4:2:2 internal recording
4K at 60p
In-camera stabilization
Less noise at higher ISOs (ISO 3200 as clean as ISO 800 is in GH4)
V-Log, of course

The 20 MPX sensor that's inside GX8 and DVX200 should be able to do both of those. I see the oversampled (13 MPX) 4K in 16:9 as in DVX200 and the 2.40 in 4096x1716. They could even oversample 2.40 in something like ~ 5,000 x 2100.

Please, no.....

Horrible color science

As long as FilmConvert and Impulz map the new sensor, I'm good.

What we really need here is for those companies to analyze and add additional motion picture film stocks to their library before they vanish forever.

I'd be happy with the above, minus 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 internal recording - this is because it would be likely to have serious overheating issues, and probably noise issues in the sensor. Better to output externally . If they made it 4K @ 60P capable with the Atomos Shogun & Odyssey 7Q, that would be great.

I also hope they keep the MFT sensor size because I invested in Veydra lenses and want to continue to use them for a long time! ;)
