"Invocation" - a Tommy Merry/T Studios Film

So many classes Tommy. You;re gonna be an AE pro after this fest.

Hey Rodney, I certainly hope so. I takes a while after the class ends & continual use for all the lessons to start kick in. Yesterday was in a word.. brutal.
Maybe next fest I'll just be the VFX guy on some other films LOL! BIG j/k

It's off to class I go...

HI TO ALL!
(sorry no time to check the rest of the board today) :-(

So how's the editing going?

MAH

Hey Michael, I've been puttin in a lot of time on the edit for a promo piece for a homeless shelter - it's tapping alot of my creative energy. But I manage to put in 3 or so hours each day on the Monsterfest entry as well each evening.

I've got it close to where I want it. There was major distortion on the cameras reference audio (my fault being new to the HVX) and so, while I think I'm in a rough- to-mid editing state; I'll start bringing in the clean audio files tomorrow and locking them to the clips on the timeline and then I should know where I'm at. :undecided

I'm excited to see your film Tommy! We are starting with sound tomorrow (I think) ourselves. I certainly know what you mean about creative energy and JTyner has a mastering job to work on this weekend too... it's sometimes difficult to find enough hours in the day, right?

How do you like the HVX? We're still shooting with the DVX...

Marlon: here's what I'm learning about AE: the more you know, the more you know that you don't really know what you thought you knew... ya know? ;-) (I know.. I know..) ;-)

EditPhish: Thanks, likewise. Trying to fit it all in. The only way I can stay sane, is asking myself "what's the next step" and working on that item, and trying not to think too far beyond there.

Loving the HVX. I used the DVX for years and loved it too! But wanted to jump into the the HD world. I have nothing but great experience with it so far.
PS Love the double meaning of your title/logo.

Another day working on a completely different shoot from Sun up to Sun down. Then on the way home stuck on the highway for an hours in one place due to weather traffic problems.

Sometimes the path seems so long and the end is nowhere in sight..
sigh........

Sorry to hear about your hectic day that ended in bad weather and traffic... don't worry, the path is long but you'll get there!

Just checked out that screen grab, super sweet!

And Ouija boards scare the crap outta me, so I better watch your short in full daylight!

Sorry about your bad day, Tommy. You've been so busy your head is spinning I'm sure. Keep your head up, 'cause it'll all be over soon (and then it'll start AGAIN)! I think what you're doin' for the homeless shelter is excellent. Keep pluggin' away at your entry and again, let me know if I can help (if you get strapped for time).

Thanks Marlon. Appreciate that ;-)

One of the things weighing heavy on my mind is a 3D wine glass
I need to model and composite for one of the shots. I'm still
so green on all this 3d/compositing stuff yet, it's folding my
brain in on itself LOL!

Any 3D model experts out there? Help! :p

That sounds a little bit out of my league. I don't think I've had to do anything like that yet, but PM me and let me know exactly what you're trying to do. You've definitely had more training than me, but I may have an idea or 2 if I can see exactly what it is. If not, I know somebody on here will be able to help.

THANKS Kevin! Sorry I did not see your post until just now!
Ouija board still spook me out too.

If you look online for stories about them, you can find 1000's of bad ones where
people are apparently psychologically damaged in some way
by them, or truly effected by some negative spirit/force - who's to
say?

One thing for sure is that they are a potential dangerous tool in the wrong, or un-initiated hands. :Drogar-Shock(DBG):

Not sure I'm a "believer" or not, but my daughter wants one a few years ago and I found a guy online who makes really nice wooden ones... he also puts "protection" wheels on them so supposedly it keeps the people who use them safe... I wasn't taking any chances!

Yes, its strange they are making them in pink and marketing to girls
8 and up. I built mine from scratch for the same reason (and to elliminate the Ouija logo)

I added several protective Runes & sigils under its basic finish to protect the actors using it. Enough things go wrong on the set for a director without inviting dark spirits to add to the Kaos.

And still, a few odd things happened on set...

The sopranos from the local choir will be in here in 3 more hours. Just finalized the main melody and tracked it in pro tools. Nothing like close calls. Although I know I compose best under pressure.

Been kicking the melody for the main theme and leitmotifs around in my head for weeks, it's nice to hear them actually recorded. Also, I'm going to be sampling the choir so I have some more tools/textures on my palette for later if needed in post. Excited!!

Did some greenscreen pickups till 3:30 am on Friday night

OMG this is going to be close.....

AfterEffect marathoning like a madman to make this happen,
oh yeah, the soundtrack... oh yeah the poster stilll
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
