GH1 availability around the world thread

yea doesnt look like it was charged, sorry for the false alarm. kind of hard when using mobile phone :(
 
Called Panasonic and apparently it's still not available. Asked the rep if he knew when it would ship and he has no idea, but when it does ship out I'll get an email. Total bummer. All this talk about orders shipping and the news I got is killing me.
 
Where's the US date? It still says Early June and here we are early june, yet you'd think an official date would be known so close.

well someone just posted in another thread that a rep told them they start shipping
next week. i was told by a rep that they started shipping this week, and a few have
claimed they have a camera on the way :huh:

every time I talk to a Panny rep i get a different story, as does everyone
else on here. i think its time for us to stop digging and just wait it out.

The PanasonicDirect website now lists my GH1 as shipped and expected to arrive by the 5th. No tracking though.

Got a call from Panasonic(UK) this morning to let me know they have stock (PAL) :-)
1 GH1 ordered today £1271.99 Free Delivery.
Checked Warehouse Express (£1299), still saying they don't have a date.
 
I ordered my GH1 through Panasonic direct about 2 days ago. The order was processed through a 3rd party shopatron. Shopatron called me yesterday to confirm the address for my 2 day delivery. But then they send me an email this morning saying it will be 2-4 weeks on backorder. Shopatron says it all depends on Panasonic getting cameras so call them. I called Panasonic and they say yes they are sending out cameras to folks that ordered early on but that that shipment is used up and they expect a bunch more cameras very soon so she thinks 2 weeks is about right but says it could be any day as well. She also said check your local retailers as they may have ordered a bunch and could get them in. Nobody around here has it yet.

I'm almost ready to jump ship and go with a Canon or Panasonic camcorder like the HDC HS300. I'm delaying a trip that I wanted to shoot with this thing. I wanted to leave this week. Who knows now. Maybe few days, maybe 2 weeks, maybe 4.

Perhaps sell the little camcorder in 3 months and buy the gh1 or a new dslr without a mud problem. No DOF for now but with manual controls on the Panasonic hdc hs300 and a heavy neutral density filter, one could get some DOF I believe. Shoots stills at 12 MP or 8 native so not bad, not as good as the GH1 of course.
 
I'm assuming most of you ordered a while ago. Did anyone place an order around the 23rd of May?

I placed my order with Panny on that weekend as well so I'm trying to gauge when this thing will ship out to me. :huh:

Ok..I just checked my order...I ordered on May 24th. I just got on the phone with Panasonic and the rep told me that my camera actually shipped yesterday so I should have it tomorrow June 4th (i ordered 2nd day UPS)

The rep said that Panasonic just got a small amount of cameras and they are filling orders as best as they can...so cross your fingers and hopefully you have one also coming your way


...also, if your order still shows as "pre-Order"..it basically means nothing....funny thing aside...the rep said that they are taking high volume calls all because of the GH1...they are filling orders first for Panasonic Direct, then they will supply distributors....so all others may have to wait a loooooong time to get thier hands on one.....got to love all the hype surrounding this little camera!

I'm hoping you're dead on Super8! Mine was placed on the 23rd and I opted for UPS Next Day. Meaning that if they're shipping according to when orders are placed, I should be getting mine any day now. Crossing fingers...:shocked:
