1) I have an HVX200 with a 8GB P2 card.

2) I have an iMac computer with Final Cut Pro 5.

This summer I am planning to shoot my short film for the Hawaii International Film Festival 2007 Student Showcase.
When I am on set, I want to store my clips on some sort of portable device when my P2 card is full.

QUESTION:
What are one of the cheapest ways I can store my P2 memory onto something portable?

Getting a "Portable DVCPRO® HD/50/25 P2 Store Drive with USB 2.0 Interface" is outta the question because it's too expensive for my buget. Try $1800 worth. :(

thanx.

Tooooo many fonts and colors.

Cheapest isn't the best. Reliable is.

A solid FW hard drive from wiebetech or G-Tech makes sense because you don't have any other way to add to that iMac other than FW.

pc laptop and firewire drive and you can offload cards while you are shooting. theres alot more info on this in the workflow forum.
- edit - just saw you have only one 8 gig card. the above method is the best way to do it as far as reliability and cost.

The cheapest way is to buy a 60GB external firewire hard disk drive, for under $100. Use the camera to offload the cards directly to the drive.

Not the most convenient way, but far and away the cheapest way.

It has to be a SBP2-compliant Firewire drive. You can also use a USB On The Go (OTG) drive, but in that case it is the drive that has to manage the offloading and verification, and not all OTG drives support the latter function.
