Price: no info

Mi piacerebbe saperlo! devo partire il 30 maggio per il giappone e speravo di avere già la GH1 invece di portarmi reflex e telecamera.. ma temo che uscirà a inizio giugno.
purtroppo in giappone al momento è solo in giapponese

from cnet- Panasonic has set the RRP for the GH1 at AU$3299, which includes the new Lumix G VARIO HD 14-140mm lens. The camera will be released in Australia in late May.

I asked by mail at Panasonic Italy about availability and they answered:
------------------
Gentile Cliente,
in risposta alla cortese Sua La informiamo che sarà commercializzata entro giugno.
Cordialmente
Servizio Clienti
"Pronto Panasonic"
-----------------

short version in english: will be in shops BEFORE June

Another confirmation that British tabloid journalism is really setting the bar in it's standards...

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/technology/2009/05/07/panasonic-lumix-gh1-priced-and-dated-115875-21340166/

Here's a quote:

"You’ll be able to pick up the four thirds Micro System Panasonic Lumix GH1 from early June - in the US at least - for £1,299.99. Compare that to the body only £869 for the Canon EOS 500D, or the £719.99 for the Nikon D5000, and a few questions marks should start floating around."

Looks like they've really done their homework

This is absolutely what I was talking about, it should definitely be compared to the Rebel T1i and the Nikon 5000D

That must be so annoying for Panasonic. I remember reading initial responses to the G1 from crappy tech blogs, and they completely misunderstood what the G1 was about. So many tech blogs or tech writers know nothing about cameras at all, but sway their opinions around like they know what they're talking about. Makes me a bit sick sometimes.

Canon is my least favorite camera company due to their latest lameness. I'm glad that Panasonic makes cameras for camera people. The fact that the reporter even compared a GH1 for a canon body only is a ridiculous notion, as the included GH1 HD lens seems to be pretty good quality, besides being slow.

Too bad that we here in the U.S. will not get the choice of Red or Champagne that the rest of the world will have, we only get boring black. Oh well...
