DRI - a film by Michael Anthony Horrigan

That's the thing I;ve found with Color Correction. If you have excellent source of light in your shot you have so much more latitude in terms of what you can pull off. Colorista loves light and turns the darkly lit scene into a close approximation of mud. Takes a deft touch and patience to get the results you need... consistently.

I just took a one day class in color correction for FCP, seems the more you know... the less you know... you know? ;-)

I like the direction you are heading with the example grabs!
Crisp black mirror.

Okay, I'll be able to look at them when I get home. Also, I won't be able to send the pics until then. Hey, I've got Red Giant Magic Bullet II, but haven't looked at it yet. The first magic bullet was real cool. Know anything about this one?

Not really. I'm no expert in this area at all. I'm currently talking about having someone else do mine. :)

I just want to see what I can do with yours. Try some different things.
Since yours are shot outside there's a lot of range there, very bright pics.

I gotcha.' Well, I'll send you those pics later. Keep experimenting (if you have time) and once I get a little further along in the editing I'm going to play around with it as well. I want a very distinctive look for this one. Just haven't fully decided what that is yet.

More grading while I wait for another member to work their magic.

Close to RAW.

More CURVE.

The last two are fairly close but the last one just has a tad more pop! I like that one.

And here are a couple more that use the same curve as the last pic above. Including one new grab for comparison since it's not as dark.

The bigger question is if I can get this done in time. We'll see.
I move in about 10 days and have yet to pack. :Drogar-Shock(DBG):

If I can't get the actors in line within that time (10 days) I will have to re-shoot everything since I'm using my house as the location. Silly, I know.

The last thing I would be doing while moving is making a movie. Its insane - but possible. As for grading, the shot with "more curve" is best. Its subtle, but it pops the image out without making your highlights get too bright. Once they are too bright... its video time and the illusion of film is gone. The ballerina's shoulder is getting close to blowing out.

The fish tank in the darkness is very nice. The orange pieces inside match well with the warm lighting. A fish tank is a neat prop for lighting a scene. I may steal that one day.

Yah, it's a very busy time but I did write the move into the script. :)
The tank is great. If I had a better camera for lowlight I think it would capture some of the shimmering effect a little better. Great prop indeed! :)

I hope you redecorate your bedroom in the new place...aren't you a little old for this kind of thing?
Hey! It keeps me young.

My six year old wanted a cat for her birthday. We already have a dog so I talked her down to a couple of fish.
They're better actors.

Now I've had all the family pets in my DVXuser short films. :)

UPDATE: Looks like I'm going to try and squeeze this in before I move.
Shooting is now set for Thursday and Friday night.
Hopefully everything else falls into place along the way.

I've already shot the opening scene, sans actors. Unless you count the fish. :)
I plan on going with natural light as I did in the grabs I posted. Hopefully it works out. It should surely speed up the process a bit and allow me some time to focus on other things.

Great!!!! Let me know if I can help in any way.

Thanks. I've got the house half packed so it should be fun to maneuver around. :)
It's do or die Thursday and Friday night. If I don't get everything shot then I'm going to have to scrap it. I think I can do it though...

MAH

You can do it. Don't scrap it no matter what.

Hey, you're in trouble btw! I saw where you cc'd some shots for somebody else. Where's mine?!!! I actually think I decided on a look though. I'll send you a grab or two in a bit.

LOL! I did one of yours, remember? :)
I do owe you a couple though. Send me your CC work and I'll see if I should even bother. I'll probably love what you've done.
Looking forward to seeing them.

Mr. Horrigan, you know I'm a fan. I hope you can get this shot. I love the vibe in the shot of the room with the aquarium in it.

You can do it!
