Actually, Tyler is the guard in the opening distant shot. Then we see a closeup of a different actor as the guard.
Then it is Tyler in the bathroom scene playing the guard that you will also see at the monitoring station in the DC. Confused yet?

Now on to the last segment, written by Rutger Drenth

SOUND DESIGN

My first concept was to go fully into the vintage sounds, like those from 50's / 60's Sci-Fi movies. But during my work I noticed that it just sounded a little lazy, in comparison to the images that were quite Hi-Fi.

So my second view was to make a realistic sound design, but put more suspense in the ambiances (like the one in the hallway). It's only a little noticeable that the ambiance increases in the low end. But subtle, you know...
The balance we made in the mix is quite compromised between on 1 hand; the SD; and on the other hand the music. So its very clear which of the 2 elements is at a particular time the most important or dominant.

In detail; I tried for example to make Mr Flegel a little clumsy, by giving him a little bit of sloppy army boot footsteps. I gave "the Fuhrer/ Shoe" more leather sole footsteps to make him more dominant and to give him a little more authority.

I have to say, the low end that Rutger's talking about is quite noticeable with a sub or good speakers that can handle LFE.

Alright Mike, here we go...

Really enjoyed your film... it ranked high for me... The look was consistent with a classic Twilight zone... in fact, I feel your film fit the theme the best of everything. The twist at the end was excellent... I did think the pacing was a bit slow for my taste... I think some of the build could have been accelerated a little, maybe when he was researching... the performances were good. What was up with the soldier in the bathroom? I didn't get that... at first I thought it was like a time warp or something...

Anyway, this is a very strong short... and well done. good work.

We actually had plans for Chris doing more research at a library but the location fell through at the last minute.
Glad you thought we nailed the theme and loved the ending. The theme is always important to me. Some people were telling me... "If you use a German accent in the beginning everyone is going to know!" It's funny how when you've read the script you think that it is all too obvious. I put a lot of faith in my actors and hoped that my storytelling could pull it off. Glad it worked.

If the only real nitpick is a random guard at a military base... I'm doing alright. :thumbsup:

Excellent idea, Mark. I still have to get them the "donation" for filming at the bunker so I'll mention it to them when I drop it off.
They actually have a regular "movie night" event there so it really shouldn't be an issue.

Really good idea.

I'm just concentrating on the double feature that's coming up at a local theatre. The Watchman & CFTFB will be shown at a local festival here. I'm pretty jazzed to see the live audiences reaction. The entire cast from both films (all 5 of them) will be there, as well as my PA. Should be a lot of fun. :thumbup:
