Please explain to me why you would depend on autofous durig an event? (I do event's and never use autofous)

So true. I did a wedding with my 160 a few weeks ago running almost 100% manual focus. I don't want to take any chances with an HD camera. You could get away with it more in SD but those days are over.

On weddings i use half of the day using my gh2 it manual focus my eyes get tired so i need to count on regular video (AC 160) camera auto focus so i can just concentrate on my composition and let the auto focus do the job while i rest my eyes. I use manual irs all day, Most of my photographer friend all use auto focus yes it not same format but they rely on auto focus and it work for them. I would not complain if the auto focus is as good as my hmc 150.
Ac 160 is now in my opinion worst in auto focus than any of my Sony cameras PD 150 -170. Evan in wide angle shots my ac 160 auto focus can go in and out, so after 15 job on ac 160 i am force to use all manual focus.
As technology get better and better why can videographer have a good auto focus that work. I do not want to go back to the time where i use my big camera shoulder mount with only manual focus (did that done with that)

I still like this camera even of the auto focus problems i am not an anti ac 160 it has other feature like the double slot car and the var kelvin which i use all day and good in low light.

I use autofocus on lots on my wedding shoots and some events really was counting on to upgrade to ac160 i have af100 for manual focus was going get the ac160'for autofocus stuff but its worst autofocus on market Is it fixable, with firmware? I hope they do .

Noah, how does the look of the 160 compare to the 150, sharper?

Well you can always dial up sharpness in post or in the camera. It's a similar lens to the 150 though I'd guess a bit sharper. Definitely seems more capable in low-light.

Jan,
I'm about to leap from my trusty AC 100A to the new AC160. How can I be sure that I get the latest firmware release for such things as the time/date stamp being lowered to the bottom of the screen and any other fixes? Also, I will need to upgrade my tripod. I know this a personal thing for videographers and can be a CHevy vs. Ford discussion but do you have any suggestions for the right-sized fluid head? Thanks!

That's something you could check yourself by going into a dealer. Definitely a different look. But that said, unless you're using a hacked reader, the SDHC card workflow is way cheaper than SxS cards and the AC160 does a lot of tricks the EX1 cannot such as simul record to two cards, full HD-SDI output, etc.

(ps my 160 course is now totally complete and shipping with the full Final Cut Pro workflow- yay!: http://www.callboxlive.com/products/panasonic-ac130-ac160-guide )

Frankly I am not sure that it is possible to tell without actually opening the box and turning it on. Sorry. Point is that you can have it upgraded under warranty if the time date is not in the right place. As far as a tripod, well, that is something that is of a personal nature and is dependent on what else you will be putting on your camera.

Best,

Jan

I bought the Vinten Vision Blue and I use it with the HPX250. Couldn't be happier with it. The counterbalance is amazing.
