Choosing the right LED light

I already own a VidLed Cool Superbright dimmable on camera light and like it a lot.

I have been also researching the more expensive lightpanels version of their LED on camera light and the 1x1 stand light. These come in Spot or Flood 3200k and 5600k.

I do a lot of interview shooting and Live Shots for work. I usually work at night or indoors. Based on what I just described what would be the better choice in terms of spot or flood? I am afraid that flood might not put out enough light or that it will be to soft and I am afraid that spot might be to much light! I am not sure if the LTPanels are dimmable.

Recently I did a shoot the day of the Obama train ride and I was set up near a crew from CNN and their shooter had a Litepanel Mini on his camera and also was using a Litepanel 1x1 on a stand as a key. His talent was lit pretty good from what I could tell. I was to busy to go down and talk to the CNN shooter about his set up.

The Mini's are a good on camera light IMHO. The micro just doesn't put out enough light for me. But heck it's small and battery powered.

Litepanels are dimmable. So no worries about that I'd say. Oh they're also DMX controllable.

I'd personally go with the flood. But you might want to check out the new LP 1x1 bicolor. It has varying color temp from 3200K to 5600K.
