Where to buy a used Powerbook G4?

Other than craigslist, is there a reputable source for buying used Mac laptops? I'm looking for a used Powerbook G4, and if there is a store (like the Apple store) where I can buy one, that would be a better alternative for me than craigslist, as I hate dealing with questionable sellers.

Thanks.

For dumping P2 cards (which I think is what you plan on doing), I'd rather get a new, faster PC laptop instead of a used Powerbook G4; or get a MBP, with Applecare left.

I bought a used PBG4 on Ebay and it came all banged up and the screen was blown. I had do the whole paypal refund thing. Total nightmare. I got a Gateway Laptop that works great for dumping footage.

Those older G4's have so many problems with hinges, screens, etc. I would not buy a used one unless it was from a company like powermax where it has some type of warranty.

Yeah, I'll probably get a MBP with the Duel Adapter for P2 dumping. I think newer technology allows for more options in the long run. Thanks again...

I've found eBay to be fine. I bought my PB G4 a while back there, and it's been perfect. I've also bought lots of other items, including some pretty pricy Nikon ED lenses. I think you just need to be careful - don't deal with anyone who doesn't have 99%+ favorable feedback, and the higher number of them the better. Then read the item description carefully. I've found most reputable sellers will describe any flaws in great detail. I know I do when I sell things there. Be prepared to pay a reasonable price for the item, and avoid what look like "crazy" bargains - they're probably just...crazy...

know if it's possible to swap out the CPU, memory, hard drive, and everything to make it a macbook pro with a pcmcia slot? =)

I also have a 15".
I was thinking it wouldn't be worth selling since it runs fine and is a good back up. Meaning if I sell it I have what - a couple of hundred dollars (no idea what they go for), but if I keep it I have an entire fully functional laptop as a field backup. That's worth more than a couple of hundred smackers to me. Maybe a trip to ebay is in order to see what they are selling for.

more than a couple hundred smackers.....

apple notebooks hold value.

I recently got a used G4 from a friend who is a 1000+ seller on ebay. I love it. Wish I had gotten it a couple years ago. I don't need to field edit, just offload P2. MBP would have been overkill, plus cost me another $1000-$1500. I totally agree that high end computers are great investments, but I know that all i need a laptop for is email, web browsing, and EASY P2 offloading. I got that for about $400 :-D I upgraded from a G3 iBook which lasted me for about 3 years... totally got my moneys worth for what I used it for. Good luck with you purchase.
