Blind Comparison:
-video deleted- see screen shots below
(Written while above linked video was being uploaded)
Okay, I am uploading a quick and dirty 60D picture style 'blind test' version to Vimeo.
While I am waiting for the upload, I will go over some things about the video.
First off, I used Kinoflo 4Bank daylight 55K tubes, since natural light is so variable, it can give a sort of common reference point. And the lens I used is a common canon L series lens, also used as a common reference point.
Camera setup:
Canon 60D
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L USM @ f5.6
I tried to take away from 'attractiveness' of the image, in order to concentrate on what the camera is doing with the image. The actress' hair and make-up are not done, and she was in fact under the weather at the time of shooting. So big bravo for her to participate, she is a trooper. The set has an undesigned look to it. Could I have made it look better and had good test/comparison info? Maybe. Haha, I don't know. I didn't try. I didn't want it to boil down to "well they all look good."
The facial area has a variety of shades, but nothing extreme, in order to show the hues.
Look for gradation quality on the wall, shirt, and face.
The upper left corner has a section of black to show what is essentially... black. (Cinestyle is the only style which will noticeably change the black level)
The piece of Kinoflo light shade behind the actress' head shows a simplistic gauge of contrast variety between styles.
The backdrop cloth shows roughly how some of the red/yellow/green/blue levels change in relation to each other between color styles.
The scarf is a vibrant (but not overly saturated color) which Canon seems to either understate (standard, neutral), alter (faithful, portrait), or exaggerate (landscape).
There are 9 picture styles compared total.
