What's the SCARIEST movie you've ever seen?

Event Horizon is definitely not groundbreaking, but I really enjoyed it when it came out. I remember seeing some stills from it in Fangoria and getting super psyched about it.

But then, I'm a sucker for seeing Jack Noseworthy getting shot out into space.
 
The only movie I can recall myself being scarred of was Blair Witch Project and I've seen tons.

Perhaps it has to do with living in the woods? :undecided
 
The Birds. When I was a kid. Could never watch it again. My parents thought I was sick for a week.
 
Chiming in:

- Jaws. Saw it when I was 5. Such a great film, but I don't even like being in a pool by myself.

- Cube. Surprisingly good and effective.

- Irreversible. This one was more disturbing than scary, but it really did a number on me.

+1 for Alien. What you don't see is scarier than what you do see.

The original Fail Safe is the only movie that almost made me sick. But thats not really a horror move.
 
A few classics come to mind:
The Thing (still one of my favourites today)
The Entity
Nightmare on Elm Street (the original - as a kid it scared me shitless)
Alien (the tense atmosphere that Scott created is amazing).

I checked under my bed after seeing The Sixth Sense as a freshman in college. Possibly slept with the lights on that night...
 
Anybody mention that movie where Audrey Hepburn is blind and the last few minutes are in pitch blackness? I want to say it's called Wait Until Dark?
