Unhackable GH1s will be History

According to VK, he now has the ability to downgrade GH1 to version 1.32, thus making them all hackable.

Christmas has come early.
 
Awesome. I'm still hoping he can come up with a GH2 hack with higher bitrate in 1080/24p. But the GH1 downgrade is certainly good news!
 
This is huge news that will dry up the supply of the remaining GH1s very quickly. For $399 how can you go wrong.
 
Just ordered my new GH1 + 14-42 lens, to "join the club" so to speak. Probably paid to much, but got the camera and lens shipped for $550(brand new). I needed on Panny lens-so I went with the 14-42. Already have some Nikon lenses(and yes, I have already done a ton of research on here about mounts for my lens, which memory cards to use, batteries, etc).
The way the prices were going for used GH1's, even the newer "un-hackable" ones, was ridiculous. I'd rather have a brand spanking new one............

So, did Panny direct still have the bodies for $399?? Wasn't there a package deal around Christmas for the body and 14-42 lens for around $499?? Don't remember...but I figured I better snatch one up now, before the "world" here's the news, and everybody starts jacking up the prices.

This is without a doubt epic! Especially since a new GH1 can be had for $300 shipped through the Panasonic Facebook promotion. Excellent deal. At this price, the current "unhacked" benifits of the GH2 aren't worth the extra price.

What is the link to that deal? At that price I might as well pick up a second one.
 
this guy Vitaley is on a different wave man. It's mind blowing that he can take a camera, reverse engineer or whatever he does, then hack and write new firmware (not sure the correct order) is simply amazing. Not to mention the fact , Panisonic tried to make it so this couldn't be done. WOW! I only wish my brain could fire in a way that I could actually understand this better. Cheers to him, he's my new Hero. I guess it's time to spend 400.00 on a gh1.

Gotta' sign in with your EPP account and you'll see $299 for a body-only option. After taxes and shipping, my total comes up to about $324. I've noticed an improvement with FPN on the newer bodies, so at the current prices, there's no reason for me to buy a GH2 over a GH1 unless if I need the ETC. Too bad . . . I was seriously considering a GH2 also.

If you go on Facebook and become a fan of Panasonic, you can then click on "fan-only" deals which will then link you to the panasonic website with special rebates.
