Unhackable GH1s will be History

what would be a good beginner lens.. i see bhphoto has it with lens at $100 off.. so 14-42mm kit is $499 or body only at $399 then add 40-200mm lens gets $100 off so its $599 with that lens.. vers buying thru facebook friends on panasonic would be $299 then have to get a lens.. any help greatly appreciated.. :) i will use video more then stills.. but would like to do stills too.. thanks in advance..
 
Fascinating! A couple of questions if you would indulge me. What advantages does a GH2 offer this new hackable GH1? Also, I've read about "FPN" a couple of times. What is that?

"Fixed Pattern Noise" in low light (criss crosses) rather than "normal" low light noise.

Just ordered another one myself. $324 with tax at Panasonic's Facebook store, can't get the EPP discount. The used market's gonna take a hit in the short term, but makes me wonder what they'll be worth once they all sell out.
 
Anyone else getting a "Store is closed for maintenance" with their EPP login? I've been seeing this message for over a month now...

damn thinking of returning my recently purchased GH1 from BH for $399..

calculating in the tax from pana direct and the shipping fee back to BH, which I have no idea how much it would be... not sure if it's worth all the effort to save $50.. I already have a 2011 built body from BH..
 
I think Panasonic just up'd the GH1 price. I just tried the facebook link and it comes to $349 before tax and shipping and not $299 anymore. Am I doing something wrong or did they catch wind and up the price $50?
 
ppl who purchased from panasonic site.. did you receive the email about the order right away? I just ordered at $299 price and it's been 30 mins and no email..
 
Ok I figured out what I did wrong, but now it seems they might be out of stock. I see the discount but can't seem to put it in my shopping cart.
 
looks like they are all gone. Saw it this morning on the "employee discount" site for $270 and now its gone

SHOULD HAVE PICKED IT UP! LOL
 
got one yesterday , no email, but called and said its on its way, it was $299 plus tax, about $327 shipped with tax to Cali

I'm thinking that since there's a $100 discount at B&H for some lenses, that the extra $100 for the body is a wash. That being said... Can anyone recommend/comment on lenses for the GH1? It would be greatly appreciated.
