Tokina 11 16

Received mine today from eBay seller in Taiwan. Perfectly packaged. No damage to box. Looking forward to shooting with it and posting some results.
 
Was in stock literally 5 mins ago at B&H (~10am EST). Went to go get my credit card, called the CC customer service to find out about international transaction fees, was on hold for about 5 mins, got the info I was looking for, went back to computer, and... it was "removed from my cart".

:(:(:(

Oh well, guess this means that the other suppliers will be getting them shortly.
 
it's everywhere now. Check our Arlington Camera, Precision Camera, god knows how many different places called me back since I placed my name on the wait list.
For sure Precision will be having at least one this Friday. I just shipped my extra one back to them.
 
Adorama web site shows enroute and available "in a few days." Also price increased to $649. So I now don't feel too ripped-off by the eBay seller who charged $678 including EMS from Taiwan. I've only shot a few stills with it but I can say it is just as sharp as everyone claims!
 
I think I received a bad copy of the lens. Either that or I'm just horrible with it. I'm getting a tremendous amount of distortion, even at 16mm. Like...unusable, unacceptable distortion. The color reproduction is amazing, but I'm not seeing the sharpness like everyone talks about.

I'm pretty disappointed and think I'm going to be sending it back. For $600, I ought not to have so much pincushion at the narrow end :/

I ordered one from amazone but they jacked the price up ,it's way to high now.....
Looking at ebay can these guys be trusted ?

Well, I ordered my Tokina on eBay from a dealer in Taiwan. It arrived in just a few days, perfectly packaged. I can't vouch for any of the other internet dealers, but my experience with Shueido was positive.
 
I'm looking to sell my Canon mount Tokina 11-16. Not even used, really; just tested it and it's too wide for the work I do. PM me if interested.
 
They don't make it easy to get ahold of one of these lenses, do they?

I'm on a waiting list with Adorama, but Lord knows how long it will be till the next shipment.
 
Just bought an 11-16mm from Shueido in japan off ebay and I recieved it in 6 days. The lens was new in box with all the paperwork in order and cost me 650 usd (shipping included). I've spent some time with the lens and it is working fine, no problems to speak of as of yet it's killer. I also contacted them about the possibility of giving DVXuser members a discount further than this so I'll also let you guys know about that!

Not sure if it will help any, but I snagged a copy a few weeks ago by constantly sniping the B&H website at around 10pm EST. For some reason it showed up in stock twice when I did that. The first time I didn't move fast enough. The next time (a month later) I jumped on it as soon as I saw it in stock. It was sold out again an hour later.

Once the lens arrived it took a while to get out of the habit of checking the B&H page. :)
