The Split

For your first film, I think you did an amazing job.

Many great shots, especially the falling snow. The mood and tone you created was wonderful.

This had a good pace to it. I definitely felt the tension in that last scene.

Best of luck in the fest.

Disturbing.... And I love it.... Henry Portrait of Serial Killer, Anyone. The snow whizzing around with the drone of the Industrial music really set the mood for me. The fire, Great shots... The Actor very much fit the part of the deranged man.

A point of Criticism would be... in the opening VO (via tape recorder) I would drop the line " I'm one half of a Serial Killer" I think as a audience member I know he's a killer and has or will kill more. It's just a little too much exposition then is needed.

You check out Placebo if haven't already Daniel used the same tape recorder device in his Flick.

You had some nice cinematography to set this up with and your first scene dragging the body, the fire, etc was done really nicely. Like how you also held on that long hand shot for a while before showing anything else. Thanks for sharing!

Sick, sick, sick.... I love it!
(either that or it's just late and I've watched that DVX leader one too many times today!)

Congratulations. This is one of my FestFavs.

ive heard before that the truely insane, dont know they're insane. you really captured the essanse of insanity, the calm mellow attitude. i loved that he said "i am a good person, remember that" great job. i like. good luck

Super job for your first short! Your actor really nailed the part. My only real comment is that the sound design didn't really work for me. But, it didn't distract me too much either so it was fine. Good job!

I also must point at the moment in which the knife turns on him was well done. One knew that the battle was coming, but the turn of the knife was pretty well executed by the lead.

It was my first time directing someone and it was his first time acting. It took a few retakes to get it right. Thanks!

Christ...This was excellent! I can't believe I missed this. This is absolutely one of my favorites. It's not for everyone but the score, and the grading really took me into dark place. If there were flaws I really didn't notice. Great effing job! I am sorry I missed this.

All cool stuff. The first minute the vibrations reminded me of that irritating, flickering fluorescent light in a classroom, but once the story started to unfold, really liked it.

Very fresh look.

This looked cool. Dingy and dirty. Not counting the lens. :)

I wanted just a little more out of the ending though. I got it, but I felt like it needed a little more kick. Nice editing as well. Overall this was pretty cool.

Nice job.

Wow, thanks a lot man. "Puppeteer" happened to be one my fest faves. I have to start commenting on each film I have watched. Haven't had much time, haha. Thanks though. It means a lot.

Really great, sick stuff. Editing, cinematography, color were all excellent. Nice use of tension as well.

My only complaints are in the voice over, it just wasn't doing it for me. It sounded too nonchalant about the whole thing, not enough emotion behind it.

Good job on this one! I definitely liked the dark tone your movie. This type of movie is all about maintaining a dark tone consistently throughout the film with the image, score, and editing and you did just that.

Cool stuff

My problem with this story was the multiple personality. Assuming, of course, that Marcus was the real personality, Jed would have been some kind of coping mechanism created in deep in Marcus' psyche. Marcus would probably not even be aware of Jed, much less know his name. He would, instead, be tortured by the acts committed by Jed, not understanding what was happening to him. On the other hand, Jed would know all about Marcus.

Was the "Good by, Marcus" Jed taking over completely OR was he killing Marcus? I don't think he'd kill Marcus because the Jed personality would not kill himself.

You film was just under 4 minutes which can be commendable but in this case I think less is LESS. Since you had it, I would have liked you to take a little time to show us Jed's character. It would help contrast differences between Marcus and Jed and make us care about the outcome.

(Don't let Ben Sliker see this or he may send John Abbott Mitchell after Jed  )
