Opinions T2i vs GH1?

Hello, I posted this same question in the GH1 thread and haven't received much in the way of informitive responses yet.

I'm going to buy T2i or GH1 to complement my HMC150. I will be using primes on either one. I would like the option of using it for shallower DOF along side the HMC for both interviews and B-Roll. My primary camera will still be the HMC. I am confident I will be happy with the image quality from either of them, but if any of you have a preference please do tell why you like one over the other. I like how the image is on my HMC over my friends Sony FX1 due to the organic look it has. Here's the pros and cons I've seen so far

GH1 articulating LCD = huge advantage when shooting
GH1 can accommodate c-mount lens - which offers a nice range of affordable and good glass.
GH1 can record till card is full - doesn't matter - that what I have the HMC for :-D

T2i Able to use auto controls on Canon lenses which I don't really care to much about as I shoot manual all the time.
T2i - Can it use c-mount lens?
T2i possibility of hacking firmware to add manual audio which would be SUPER SWEET as this would turn the camera into a reliable second camera with audio :-D.

Thank You in advance for you opinions

Seems like this thread comes up once a week. IMO both cameras are great and there are +s and -s to each one.

One thing to consider about the GH1 though is as of now no one has really reported any over heating issues. This is a problem though with the Canons. Second you can record until the cards are full, that alone is a huge advantage.

Now regarding image quality I like the Canons better ( personal preference) but there are a lot of amazing shots done with the GH1 as well. The only thing I really do not like about the GH1 is codec and dealing with converting everything you shoot to "24p".

Overall though IMO I would say they are both excellent cameras, which ever one you choose will be a great buy. The GH1 has no recoding limit though so maybe that would fit you better depending on the kind of work you do.

i'm in the same situation, except, i'm pretty sure i'm going with a gh1 or 2.
i feel that the cameras are better matched image-wise and the gh1 is going to integrate into my production and post workflow much more easily.
as for having to do pulldown, BIG DEAL! i've been transcoding raw avchd into an edit codec for years, checking the box to do the pulldown takes only 1 click.

with a gh1, you can just roll the whole time, for as long as the hmc is rolling. this makes it easier to sync audio....or rather, makes less clips to sync (1 for 1).

the higher contrast and realistic colors of the gh1 are well matched to the hmc, whereas the canons (imo) look much more different.

RE: Opinions T2i vs GH1?

Think of it this way: camera market is in freefall, every vDSLR has AGC, new cameras coming out all the time, your vDSLR is depreciating fast. Then think about how fast you can ROI you camera and what you can sell it for and when. Decisions sometime become clearer when keeping these things in mind.

Overheating like freaking crazy all freaking day!! What's wrong with this camera?? http://tweetphoto.com/17977050

After reading his tweet I think overheating may be connected to 3rd party batteries. I've had my 7D on batteries then on a power cable for 10 hours straight with the camera never being off in those 10 hours and we were sweating under 2500 watts of tungsten in a small studio. Not one sign of overheating.

Hopefully you are right. BTW.. Ya.. it was his 7D that was overheating. If it's the 3rd party batteries, I'll update here.

Can I ask why you like the image of the Canon more?

I have used both cameras before and I like the image quality of the T2i and Canons overall better. Also Canon is a better camera for photography + has Pal + Ntsc modes which the Gh1 does not.

Since I travel around the country this is very important for me. The Gh1 also is costing less ( minus the lens ) + also has lost a lot of it's value as well while the T2i is hard to find in stock anywhere.

Handing over footage to client that do not understand pulldown was a MAJOR reason in the end though why I had to let the GH1 go, it truly is for that factor alone a deal breaker.

So not one more reason why I think one camera is better than the other, all I know is those panasonic guys treat the Gh1 like their first born while us Canon users are more open minded.

Canon is the future of DSLRs .............

BTW Thanks for all the feedback so :-D Up here in AK renting this gear isn't an option to try before you buy :-(. All I have to go off is feedback, research and web video.

It seems that it's a bad camera that needs fixing (or replacing). His other 7D has been working fine along side it all day. That's a manufacturing issue.
