Nab 2016

So, one hour before the doors open. Are we expecting announcements/news right after or are they going to trickle in as the show goes on? Or are there even new cameras that are going to be announced?

Eagerly waiting what Convergent design will bring to the table. Atomos Inferno looks nice but internally it only matches up with 7Q.

Ooh Blackmagic just emailed out all their updates.

Looks like the URSA mini is getting in-camera color-correction and LUTs which is a pretty big deal...

Teranex mini LUT upgrade looks kind of amazing too, $500 to add SDI and LUTs to any monitor...

The Video Assist may be lacking in some features but is a current low price leader in monitor/recorders.

Video assist is looking good. Too bad it does not do 4k60p. Not that everything is shot in 60p but it does future proof your investment.

The PR release conveniently omits the recording bit rates on the Video Assist 4K. With BMD's record, one can't help but smell a rat.

What does that mean? Surely they will support HQ, 422, and LT like they do on their other products...

422 HQ is 770 Mbps and SD cards can't go that high because the new SD cards top out at 720 (90MB/s). Standard is 500 Mbps and you have to buy the correspondingly rated cards, which also means the highest rated 90 MB/s because the second best 60 MB/s (480 mbps) won't even let you do the Standard and the 90 MB/s cards will be pricy.

Now, in H264, anything above 200 Mbps should deliver a pretty nice image,

Edit : According to BMD URSA specs, 422 HQ is 110 MB/s (880 Mbps), Standard is 73.6.

No conspiratorial rats here. The 4K VA supports UHS II SD cards, that have write speeds up to 250 MB/sec.

They're only up to 64 GB in size right now, but the VA has dual slots, so maybe there's a spanning function?

Any new pistol grip gimbals announced? I have the Beholder DS1, but it's been so-so. I believe something with encoders would help, but wasn't too excited about many of the offerings out there. I was hoping for something new at NAB.

I saw this announcement, but can't find any further info. Would love to use it for ultralight travel use:
