Nab 2016

Yes, I've seen that test before and done some on my own; this footage has been pushed beyond the limits to illustrate his point.

but for my clients and me personally it doesnt matter. the difference/improvement is marginal for the low budge work I do. I am not disputing the benefits on a technical level , more on a realistic "the client is not going to pay me more to give them 10bit 422 footage". They just want a clean , clear image the 1s and 0s only matter on the cheque. Cheers

I do agree with you for specific jobs where the budget and deliverable requirements are there bit rate is key. That's why I;d take a C300 II right now over any other camera in the price range. The damn thing has one of the best colour sciences, DR response and can do 2K 12bit 4444 internally. Chroma keying, VFX, you name it - narrative or doc , 50 foot screen or iPhone , that resolution at that bit depth is bulletproof.

Thanks for the clarification. I don't suppose you know where the joystick is located on the 2 handle setup? News Shooter posted a video of it from the show, but I can't see the joystick anywhere (on the 2 handles). Maybe via the remote? Looks like a great jib head too. If the price and delivery match my needs, I think I've found the gimbal I'll get.

I don't clearly recall how the two handle is supposed to work.

That Osmo arm...well, I guess I'd have to try it to know for sure, but offsetting the mass away from the handle like that seems like a surefire way to encourage operating fatigue. There should have been a fixed offset at the bottom that moved the handle back under the CG of the camera.

Good point. Maybe someone can make and sell such an offset arm.

The mirror analogy makes tons of sense. Thanks for the details on both of these, especially the Optimus!

I was just about to pull the trigger on the Single a week ago, but two things stopped me. The coming of NAB and seeing the Pilotfly H2. I like the smaller handle (circumference) and the fact that they have an optional dual handle. And I really wanted a thumb joystick position. Now it looks like the Optimus may have solved the handle size issue, and hearing that they've moved the joystick (under the thumb I hope?) AND that it comes with a dual handle setup..... Well, I guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer!

Although, the build quality on that H2 looks awfully nice.

EDIT: I can't understand a word of what this guy says (in the videos where he's talking of course) but his gimbal work is sooooo smooth.

Oh hey, was you on the Bund that day? Sorry if I walked in front of your camera (hehe). Seems like there were always people shooting timelapse out there. The view of Pudong is always pretty spectacular.
