T2i Magic Lantern for 550D in progress!

Yes, I was aware that you can use cards with ML or without ML after the ML firmware is updated on the camera. However, I was wondering if you can reinstall the original Canon 1.0.9 firmware after I have installed the ML firmware. It is my understanding the ML firmware that is uploaded to the camera basically tells the camera to first look for a bootable sd card. Let's say I need to send my camera in for service and I want the original Canon firmware on the camera. Can I revert back to that at anytime using the method above?

Yes, IRE is a measure of brightness using broadcast standards. I'm not familiar with the 0 to 255 standard.

To convert the "0 to 255 standard" to standard Digital IRE 0 is 0 (7.5 used for analog) and 255 is 100.

You can reinstall Canon 1.0.9 firmware, but this may leave the bootflags enabled. The uninstall procedure is described on the wiki.

Also, anyone using headphones yet?
I had to splice together a wire (RCA coupler to RCA cut, spliced to female 3.5mm)
But my audio cuts in and out when monitoring, I don't think its the wires as I jiggle them and had no static.
The audio bars move, but I cant hear anything until I switch audio input modes at least a full cycle and then all of a sudden audio comes back.

Haven't had a lot of time to test it much, just when testing my wire, had me going crazy because I spliced them together proper, and then I couldn't hear anything and took it all apart a few times to realize it was something in camera.
Maybe some kind of loop that gets broken when checking if there is a usb plug attached?

Focus peaking works very nice and fast ,this is so great :) Its huge help and i will leave this on for sure.:-Happy(DBG):

Did anyone adjust the contrast in the ML to a (-) number?
I set mine up as -4. Seems like its more flat, which is good. But, I heard it may mess with picture style?

I have it on -4 and i like it,with most of my lenses it doesnt need adjustments , but when my lens doesnt have good contrast or im shooting through window then i need to adjust black levels a bit cause its too hazy for my liking. With my zoom 80-200mm it needs a bit adjustments

I'm installing ML and have a question. I updated the firmware with the ML firmware and enabled the two flags. I now notice two files in the root of the sd card: ROM0.BIN and LOG000.LOG

In the video by saw0media, those files do not appear on his sd card. Do I leave these files on the card or should I delete them?

saw0media also has a file named autorun.inf on his card which is not on mine. Is it okay that it's not on my sd card?

Thanks for the help.

Wow I am excited to try the peaking Alex, That's gonna make my little day big time.
Meanwhile a question. Is there anyway to get out of Kelvin temp and return to the default Canon choices ( cloudy sunny etc.)? Of curse you kind do most of it anyway just by changing Kelvin anyway (except Flouro)- but when I hand my camera to my wife she doesn't know what that stuff means.

Now here's another idea (of course its all gravy from here as you solved all the major issues with this tiny little beast).
Can you make a menu item to shift incrementally to add magenta or green as you do have it in the "white shift bracket menu". Mainly for flourescents.

And now....On to add the new firmware......

Just noticed the peaking software says - "no audio monitor".

Does this build eliminate the audio monitoring?

If so Howcum?

I had to check it myself, all you have to do is press the trash can button to leave the ML menu and then hold the Q button and roll the front selector wheel just like using the Canon firmware.
(this is in video mode by the way)
When you go back to the ML menu you'll see that the WB selection will read whichever one of the Canon defaults that you chose.

No audio mon is the main hack, because using audio monitoring breaks other features.
They have to re write a bunch of code that canon wrote to enable the audio monitoring with out breaking other features.

How do I just upgrade my ML build form the jan7th to the Jan 14th build?

On a you tube video there was a very simple method to upgrade from Jan 2nd to 7th - you just copied 4 files onto the card from the Jan 7th folder - easy

But now I see a bunch of new files and 3 of the previous files are now in a "cropmks" folder.

I dor ead in the Install guide:

"If you already use a previous version of Magic Lantern for 550D firmware 1.0.9,
it’s easy. Download the latest ML and unzip everything on your SD card. Done.
Enjoy! "

So I just copy all the files onto my card? Including the README, User guide and INSTALL?
Do I just copy the whole cropmks folder or only files inside it?

Remove all the files you put of from the last install.
Now copy all the files from the new zip.
The end

Readme and user guide are there if you want them, you don't have to put them on, but they are good to take with you.

I just loaded up the 1-12-11 build after finally figuring out where to get the EOScard software and how to make the SDHC cards bootable. So far ML seems a tad of buggy, but it's a small price to pay for getting some really nice additional features for such a bargain camera. Thanks to all of the developers and testers for such an awesome program. The instructional videos are also appreciated and helpful.

Just select WB from Canon menus, as you did before ML.

It's right under the Kelvin menu item. Use SET and DISP to adjust it.
