T2i Magic Lantern for 550D in progress!

1080 via USB?

1080 via USB?

@ a1ex

do you suppose ML can be developed to give 1080/24 thru the USB port?

As you know the Canon supplied software allows video over USB, but not at full spec.

I have no idea how fast is the USB. But with gphoto2/ptp is very slow, and also with eos movrec (which uses canon SDK). Short answer: no.

Hi Alex, you've created some exciting stuff with this firmware, it's like a whole new camera to me now.

Quick question, for stills, is it possible to make the T2i mark photos with a date stamp? I take real estate photos for a local business and was astounded that my T2i couldn't put a date code on the images other than embedded in the data.

Also, this is a dumb question, but where the heck is the link to make a donation???

Hi wonderful HDSLR community! I see how wonderfully T2i Magic Lantern development evolves. Alex is doing miracles, and T2i ML software matures daily. However, I am curious, is anyone working on Magic Lantern for 60d? Information on Wiki regarding 60d is old. Are there any updates on that?
Peace

The 60D has some problems with menu (it freezes when you try to close it). See the movie and the latest link from 60D wiki page for the latest info. We are also thinking to merge 550D, 60D and 500D branches, but that's not easy at all.

A1ex,

I've noticed that when using MF lens' ML has some issues "booting". Is this normal? I was shooting today w/ a "regular" lens and all was well. Once I hooked up a MF lens, I got the prompt on the LCD "make sure a lens is attached", but then it froze. Afterwards it didnt boot and I had to pull the battery out 'n wait. I tried cutting it on again with the MF lens to no avail. Ended up hooking back the working lens, pulled the battery out for a minute, then hooked it back up and all was well.

Is there an issue w/ Lens' who dont have some sort of electronics contained?

Other than that this is really great. Thanks for all the effort!

The date on each photo is in EXIF. See here for how to put it on the image: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=23387

The donation link is on the top on this page: http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/550D . When you click "Donate", it should say "broscutamaker at gmail.com (my e-mail). Thanks in advance!

That "Exifer" program works great, thanks for the info!

Donation made, certainly not enough for what this firmware is worth but what I could afford at the moment.
Thanks again for the great work on the T2i

Thanks!

I had to pull the battery out

Does the freeze happens with the latest build? I'm also using a lens without chip (Samyang 8mm) and never had such issues with it. Only that focus peaking is not sensitive enough to tell if this lens is focused or not.

Instead, I had some issues with the M42 adapter (not related to ML): when I rotate the focus ring a bit faster, the adapter loses contact and LiveView mode turns off quickly. After a bit of cleaning it seems to work now.

Thanks!

A1ex,

I am using a M42 adapter, but it doesnt have the confirm chip. Its just an adapter. Interestingly I used it last night while carrying a spare SD that didnt have ML software on it, but I managed to use ML and only had to do the battery pull once. I did notice that if I waited a little bit after the software loaded, I had a better chance of it not 'freezing'. Therefore I would cut it on, wait at least 10-20sec AFTER the software was fully loaded, then pressed the liveview. This yielded better results than if I just cut it on, wait for the software to boot up and quickly pressed liveview.

I will toy with the adapter to see if I can isolate and replicate the issue constantly. That way it would give you a chance to replicate and resolve. In regard to the build, unfortunately I had 2 different builds on 2 different cards. So I'll get back to you on which I was experiencing the issues with once I've narrowed it down.

Again I thank you for all your hard work in getting ML together.

I have some manual lens with adaptor without chip and dont have any problems, when turn on the camera, show the same in the lcd screen ""make sure a lens is attached", i press the liveview button and every things work fine

No HDMI Output

No HDMI Output

HI all. Can anyone tell me what I am or did do wrong? I don't get an HDMI output with ML on my T2i. Am I missing something? If I boot up with the HDMI cable plugged in, the screen just goes to black. If I plug it in after it is running, It does not re-direct the signal to the HDMI port and continues to display on the T2i's LCD until I press Display or Menu. Then it just goes to black. I have to shut the camera off and back on again, to get local LCD output.

Thanks so much for this Firmware. You will be getting donations from me!!! This is wonderful.

HDMI does not work now. It will be fixed, but it will take a while. If you use the NoAudioMon builds, some features will work, but no zebra, no cropmarks...

Thanks a1ex for the super fast polite reply. I can deal with the lack of zeb,s Crops and audio, if I can get output. For me, the quick WB, and ISO settings were the most critical. If it isnt asking too much, can you point me in the right direction for the suggested NoAudioMon build?

With the NoAudioMon build, is It still possible to disable AGC and adjust analog gain?

Are there any chances of being able to use custom resolutions (and aspect ratios) vs crop marks? I was reading the google group the other day and came across this question but wasn't able to find the answer. It would be an added bonus to be able to use those cropped bits on the entire 2.66 frame.

Am I the only one who can't get the new false color focus thing working?

On my sceen all I get is a square that takes up 3/4th of the screen of little red dots that change color, but arnt attached to any edges.
Like if you overlayed tv static on the screen and it was red or blue.
