I may (haven't taken the job yet) film a small-scale opera in a 500 seat auditorium this weekend. It's just a one cam shoot...really just documenting the performance. I'm wondering what's going to get me the best results for audio. I have 3 ideas:
1 - Plug in to the sound via XLR cable
2 - Record live sound with a placed shotgun mic close to the stage
3 - Record live sound from onboard mic (I'm using a Sony EX1)
Any ideas as to which ONE of these is going to give me the best results? Thanks!
