Interesting rumor...

the rumor says in the lifespan of the D300s "so wait" That could be long wait.

Not too long. The D300's lifespan was only about a year, so I would expect the D300s to last about a year, too. Besides, Red and Canon (and maybe Sony and Panasonic) are all trying to reach this goal. If they're late, they can lose a lot of market share.

One of their biggest obstacles, IMHO, will be to get NLE support. Red created their own Raw format (RedCode Raw), and was able to get support from the major NLE's, but they were/are the only one in that category, and it took a lot of time. Red had to create some of their own utilities so that people can use their output. Nikon will have to create their own utilities, too, and in a crowded marketplace, it may be a while before they get NLE support.

Maybe Adobe will create something like Adobe Camera Raw, but for video.

half the jello for double the price....sounds like a good deal :nads:

I just bought another EOS adapter, now I have 8 lenses EOS mountable......I've just about given up on Nikon ever catching up but I won't invest in any Canon glass until they deliver 24p and rectify a few of the MKII bugs.

yeah, it's not the best but ok. The black and stainless ones (novaflex copy) that sell for about $50 on ebay from HK are better.

It is on it's way! Individual files in RAW sequences. DNG format. Ikonoskop will use it and they have a cooperation with Adobe.

how do you know it is half? Some say it is less than that. Plus not sure if you know this but these cameras take pictures too. Not just video. So you are also getting upgrades on that end of it too.

I hope its true. 35mm sensor shooting 1080p with variable frame rates? Damn that would be good. And RAW? I also think that if Adobe went ahead and tried to create a DNG for video that it would be a very good thing.

It has the same sensor as the D300, so you are not really getting much more for stills.

I don't, just illustrating that it's not worth twice as much to filmmakers. It takes pictures? Care factor zero

I guess you should wait till it comes out. The D90 has made some good stuff. The D300s might do even better. I'm sure a good filmmaker will be able to do a lot with it.

If you are buying a camera for video why not buy a video camera? What are you buying a DSLR?

zim has his own agenda, doesn't matter what the thread is about in my experience. :-)
I think it is some of the canon people with the agenda. But my point is squig said his care factor for taking pictures is zero. He said half the jello twice the price.
If a someone is buying a camera because they only care about the video why are they buying a DSLR?
Matt this a is a "interesting rumor thread" Not the "lets trash Nikon" thread.

That what this thread is about....a dedicated Nikon video camera.

Is it not?

http://nikonrumors.com/2009/08/25/n...gh-the-sensor-in-development-nikon-video.aspx

Nikon makes still camera and are now adding video to them. My point is if you are going to spend $1,000. $1800. $3000 whatever to get a good video camera why put it in a DSLR if like squig said he has a zero care factor for the picture side if the camera. Just go out and by a good video camera.
If I get the D300s it is mostly because I wan it for pictures. Plus I do want the to be able to take video too. That would be a nice tool to have.

Can we just get past this "defend our desire for a vDLSR camera" nonsense? If Nikon (et al) didn't want vidiots interested in their "still" cameras, then why on Earth did they add D.Movie?

people do want video. I want video on my next Nikon. But if all I wanted was video. I would spend the money on a video camera. From Ami Vitale's D300s video it looks like Nikon is going in the right direction. Having a camera that can do both will come in handy.

I don't make videos, I make films.
