Interesting rumor...

I am 100% sure they are working on a NEF video codec. There will be the day when everything falls into place. Just about the time when Scarlet is ready. The competition is going to really heat up in the not too distant future. Great for all of us.

This must be how it felt being in occupied Europe and waiting for the Allied landings. I guess we must be in about Spring of 1943 at this stage.

I really hoping for something like this. And maybe it will happen!? I used to dream about Nikon making a video camera. (before the D90, Ikonoskop and Scarlet was news) I dreamt about a black box that was simple and smart designed like the underdog "Nalcom" that could mount Nikon lenses. So simple and so good. Something like Ikonoskop but cheaper and that actually exist.

I will dream on....

the si-2k mini perhaps? it's the same price as the ikonoskop and actually exists. requires a computer for recording though, not so simple anymore.

Yes, with the full rig and computer operator it’s a cool camera. Didn’t they use the si-2k mini on the slum dog and mixed it up with 35mm? But as you say, not so simple. I would think that I like the Ikonoskop, but they have lost the contact with the world right now. And I could see Nikon pull out a “black box”, Maybe not in there interest but they could!

If those Canon rumors are true Tuesday could be D-Day for RED Nikon and Panasonic.

yeah i happen to know the ikonoskop guys personally but not even that gets me much more info than is on the web page. let's just say that everything is going according to plan but slower than they had anticipated, both on their side but especially with companies that don't quite deliver what they promised. swedish naivety as usual. we believe people when they make promises, even though they just want to keep the contract and your money. :-)

I hear what you say and have never believed that they wouldn’t stick to their plan. But to say that everything is going according to plan, Is not what everyone would say. I think they shouldn’t done like they did with the "big" marketing and no camera ( be so dam naivety). But I would like to see that camera even though I am disappointed on the way that work now days. (They have to keep people updated)

I have no doubt that movie mode will improve. I worry that some line is being drawn in the sand such that the D90 and D5000 get nothing, and the D300s gets manual control later in its life cycle. Of all the slr manufacturers, it has not been Nikon's way to simply abandon the (in this case, recent) past. Has Nikon decided that now is the time to do this?

I think the D300s has been improved. I think they just took some jello out. Then we will just see a new camera with manual controls. D400 or something. Who knows when?
