I hope the film lives up to the promise that the pics are giving, but I just gotta give you props for going with real film and making something that looks so very different from the prevailing aesthetic.

Kyle- Did you add grain, scratches and dust to the images? I shot on 8mm for years and never was it so dirty & beat.

Great to see someone going old school.

Did you shoot negative? It is my understanding that a neg is more susceptible to scratching, etc. It is the look I am going for, though. None of it was added in post, except to the OTC's to match the look. This won't have the polished look of a Leone Western, more the low-budget camp films of his predecessors.

I am glad folks are excited about this! I hope it fulfills your expectations. I make no promises, and just hope the film can speak for itself.

Yes.. I would shoot color negative mostly, but used color reversal for a washed-out, surreal look.
I'm excited to see this film, I miss my old camera. It's in a box somewhere in the basement, I might have to dig it out one of these days.

Cool. I ran the negative through a dusty POS projector. It's 100% physical. I think it might be a bit much... We will see. As for the grain. The way the film was scanned, it seemed to enhance the grain, especially when I added USM.

Okay, then that means this is getting even cooler. I totally love that in the midst of the most modern, digital, electronic advancements in filming that are revolutionizing what we can do on no budget, that you're going so retro and actually getting film/dust scratches the real way.

It's like 1977 models/sets/miniatures Star Wars IV vs. green-screen Star Wars III.

Like I said before, I have no idea about how the film will turn out, but I applaud you for exploring the aesthetic and doing it in such a retro way.

agreed, what barry said. the fact that you ran it through a projector means its grindhouse approved. congrats on the effort alone.

Picture was locked. I unlocked it, haha, and am about to lock it up tight this time. Everything is coming together nicely.
