HVX 200A Brochure

If this announcement it true, then "Good Job" Panasonic.

As just a letter upgrade, the fact that the CCD's have been re-worked should be enough to warrant the new product name.

But, this upgrade seems too similar to the DVX100a-b changes; not much there. I didn't upgrade from the DVX100 A to B model.

Obviously Panasonic still sees the need for dv tape based productions by some so i think they are smart in having the option with the upgraded HVX.

Guys...I really think this brochure is a fake..............

The brochure is real. Panasonic mentions the HVX200a in their press release. But it is disappointing, because I thought for sure they would leapfrog Sony's EX1. Instead, it was Sony who leapfrogged the EX1 with the EX3.

Well I wouldn't jump to sony yet.... I'd like some more info. on this AG-HPX170. Seems to be what people wanted in the HVX200a but its a completely different camera.
That's exactly my feeling. The HPX170 is the one that people were expecting. Looks like they just updated the 200A with the new chipset from the 170. The 170 has the new features.

Ditto with the Camera testing. I remember it was our own engineering guro, MR Bob Diaz, that said miracles couldn't be done with the existing 1/3 imagers, or with 1/3 inch CCD technology for improved resolution and sensibility. If this happens, it will be pretty marginal/not substancial. Maybe miracles can happen, so lets see what this means when testing is done by our board experts...

As of Now, I'm really pleasantly surprised with Sony's new EX3: That was what I expected from the Next HVX, and it seems like a fantastic- revolutionary, even- piece of gear. I can certainly live with rolling shutter if the interchangeable lens version solves the vignetting, back focus and other small glitches- which doesn't make sense if they didn't.

I just heard word from someone at the show that the 200a may also include a built waveform (like the HPX170).
Can anyone confirm that?

That's a question for Panasonic. I don't know the answer. But the 170 looks to be the more desirable unit, unless someone needs a tape drive.

Anyone... anyone.....

ship date?

ship date?

Hi all -

Did panasonic announce a ship date and a price for the 200a? I notice on B&H that there is now a $400 rebate for the 200. The rebate time frame extends to June 30. I only ask because I just sold one of my DVX100 cameras... I'd like to replace it ASAP.
