BTS pics! Epic setup in action

Tech Specs
Shot on EpicX #27 in 5k 2.4:1 & highspeed 2k 2.4:1
Red Pro Primes 35mm, 50mm, 85mm
Camera filtration: Schneider Classic Soft, Tiffen Black Pro Mist, Tobacco 1, Coral 4 (not concurrent, used at different times)

Workflow
Process 1920x810 offline Prores422Lt offline dailies in RedCineXPro for offline edit in FCP.
Generate locked edit for sound post.
RoundTrip back to RedCineX Pro for conform back to original 5k files. Do 1st light grade, export 1080p ProRes4444 files for final grade in Color.
Grade in Color, send back to FCP for finishing.

Post Sound Workflow: (by Ryan Frias)
BTS Blog on audio! http://www.ryanfrias.com/2011/10/bts-grid-down/
- Bring in OMF from FCP into my 5.1 mix template. No assembly required since Shawn sync'd production audio for me

(see note below)
- Because FCP never places the OMF regions in Pro Tools correctly and in the right frame, I have to adjust and line it up with the TC burn on the pic as well as the 2pop
- Split out the DX and SFX edit sessions for the post team. At the same time, receive the score
- Receive final edit sessions and import session data into my master mix session
- Mix mix mix then print the 5.1 and LoRo mix

FCP strips all metadata when exporting an embedded OMF. Avid's AAF do not, which allows me to auto-assemble the audio on my end using the metadata provided by the production sound mixer. There are some other intermediate steps to this, but that's another thread of ranting.

I could have sworn Chris Messineo (winner of the last fest) had a thread up, but maybe i'm imagining things. Also Darkline, winner of Thrillfest (and maybe twilight fest) mentioned he might enter.
I could have all my facts wrong though, you may be the sole master of this domain! Either way, good luck.

Wow! Thanks guys! Dvxfests are great, forces me to move fast. Just locked my last actress today. Waiting on one more crew member then I think I'm good.

Still pending on a weapons advisor/military consultant.

Prepping like a mad man. Yesterday Ryan Walters (the DP) and I spent about 3 hours going over the script, blocking everything out and creating a shot list. Now today we're getting the g&e stuff together and Ryan and Jerry (the AC) are doing filter tests to dial in a look. Two days away from shoot and we're just full steam working for this. Having some trouble getting our second 2.5k HMI working, but just got a tip on how to fire it up.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing what you shoot Shawn, as always. Fantastic to be able to look forward to one of your shorts again!
