First Philip Bloom footage with 7D

I could do without the hyper shallow depth of field but as a promo video it's probably something canon wants to show off so indies can see the range. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

well you won't like my next footage. MEGA shallow DOF. Sorry!

doesnt make me thirsty ,makes me angry, its not what i expected from filmmaker when everyone is waiting for decent footage

DUDE relax. That is me having fun before i test proper. that is why it is ONLY on twitvid not on Vimeo or anything. Be patient please. I am staying up all night to try and put something together for everyone.

Phillip, can you do a Jello test in all of the framerates? Please let us know how it holds up against the Red and GH1 and the Mark2

I can but the problem is this is a BETA camera so anything I do like that may not be representative of the final version.

First off i will do my creative stuff then I will do all the dull side by side stuff :-)

Angry? You're not allowed to get angry until you're the one writing checks, and this gentleman is working for free.

This hack doesn't speak for me. Excited to see what you are able to come up with, Philip.

*****, piss and moan, jeez. They are so ungrateful Philip. THANK YOU for posting anything with this camera. THANK YOU for taking the time to obtain it and put it through its paces. I have gone through the same thing when writing reviews and articles, they want EVERY possible combination of circumstances, variable and situation tested but they don't realize how long it takes and how much money you are losing by not doing all of this on a paying gig.

Once again, THANKS for all you do for the community with your site, clips and insight.

Dan

If people are going to be so disrespectful the least they should do is sign in with their full name, not hide behind a few letters. Philip Bloom I really appreciate and respect all your wonderful work. Thanks a million.

I for one enjoyed the clip and like that Philip is addicted to appletinis to the point that his first video from the 7D is of a bunch of empty tinis.

thanks Mr. Bloom! I liked it.

did you by chance name this Sophie's Sipping?

{ loved sophies people, btw }

I'm also glad I didnt hear the old gh-1 drinking expression:

" here's mud in your eye" !

oddly, I've never seen something so mundane suddenly become astonishingly intriguing:-) lol

Shout outs to Philip on this little sample here- I can't wait to see more

Philip, is the soul reason i got into the DSLR cameras and damn this footage looks so nice and delicious that I want to stick a fork in it and eat it. I wonder how the stills look with it too.

Nice work Phil, much appreciated. Downloading the 720p clip on Vimeo. A couple of nits to pick with Phillip's write up (though I forgive him, he does look tired!).

"using just my Canon L series 50mm f1.2 (which effectively becomes an 80mm with the 1.6 magnification you get when using a full frame lens on an APS-C camera)"

A big misconception that people seem to have. An APS-C sensor does not magnify the image at all. What it does is only captures the APS-C sized area in the middle of the lens projection which narrows the field of view but doesn't cause any magnification at all.

"What it does is simply stretch the clip out to 25p effectively doubling the length of the clip giving you perfect slow motion."

This is definitely nit picky, but all that the conform function (which I adore) does is change the meta data so that the player or NLE plays the file back at that framerate. It actually doesn't alter the video itself at all (which is why it is nearly instant).
