Darkline Entertainment Presents 'Broadcast'

Wow. It was certainly my favourite. I'm usually out of step with the world, so I'm glad I was in agreement with the crowd this time. Congrats!

Great job man, congrats! You inspired me a lot with this film... I hope that my next outing can be as good as this one... Cheers!

Wow! I got home from badminton and checked the thread. Nothing. Go to another web page and 30 seconds later Karl calls me saying 'Have you seen DVXUser?!' (he was rather excited). I'm glad his edit had better timing and pacing than me...

Seriously though folks, thanks to everyone who voted for us and said kind or constructive words about what we managed to put together. We were up against some fantastic work and it was anyones guess who was going to place this time.

I'm really chuffed to know that, after putting his money where his mouth is and buying a lot of new shooting kit this year, Karl has been able to have such an impact with his first 'comeback' project. This win is a little reminder that it was all worth the anxiety and risk. He's kind of still in shock but I know deep down he's really happy!

So thanks again and congrats to everyone, whether you won anything or not. Winning is nice but, to be honest, the feeling of just getting something finished and uploaded was amazing. And we all keep learning from each other here. I know we're going to have to learn a few things to get Karl's Loss Fest idea on the screen, that's for sure! See you for the next one. Time to drink some alcohol now....

Thanks to everyone who has chimed in here! really appreciate your support.

I don't see 'Broadcast' as being my work but a collaboration of all my friends who put the effort into making it.

Firstly John, he might only be credited for sound but he does much much more. He is there to do everything from mr electrical, lighting, problem solver, sound and even extra. He is an organiser behind my chaos and without him there would have been no entry to this festival form me. thanks for everything John!

Mark (yeen) - this short wouldn't be what it is without you. We started filming this short on 8th October and Mark was with me here on evenings till 4/5am gettig shots ready for the edit. He did 90% on the destruction shots as I was battling to get the edit done for the deadline. I know we are capable of more given more organisation from me next time round! You are multi-talented and I promise to return the favour WHEN (not if) you enter this fest next time around.

Gareth (Gamera) who literally left work on many nights to drive to the shoot and left at 2am only to be up for his 9-5 job the next day. He must have had a 15 minute break each day.... poor thing. A pleasure to work with you and I hope we will again under less stressful conditions.

James our actor who took a leap of faith working with us. It was a pleasure working with you and I hope to have that opportunity again very soon. I thought your performance was spot on and you put up with a lot of faffing around from us :)

Finally we had help from a lot of family members who were extras and production assistant. Sam thanks for letting me spill beer all over you and for your help :)

I 'm sure there are many more to thank but I'm going to have a drink and chill for a while before I rack my brains any further.

Hey you guys, just stopping in to say-- GREAT JOB. I pretty much knew this one was going to be a winner the first time I watched it...and the second...and the third...and the fourth time haha. Definately gonna keep an eye out for your future work! Congrats!

As are mine! I'd like to find a couple more interiors to combine with the set we used at Laurel Canyon for a more ambitious project. Thus, I've been prowling the net looking for opportunities. There's actually quite a bit of interesting bits and pieces out there if you search hard. I assume you have to shoot in England, though?
.

well Broadcast was the first time I had really stepped outside my home (or a friends home) to film, so was fun but Id like to expand with each project... I guess there are going to be much better opportunities elsewhere. England is not great for film-making help. Everyone wants $3000 just to talk to them.

Maybe I'll save the project for when I've got some umphhh behind me.
