Darkline Entertainment Presents 'Broadcast'

A well deserved win, and no surprise. Very impressive film.

I'm going to ask a question I hope you don't mind answering:

I don't see 'Broadcast' as being my work but a collaboration of all my friends who put the effort into making it.

How will that affect what you do with the prizes? This is an issue I've had all along. I mean, I assume most people (cast/crew) are working on these projects for free. So now what do you do to share the reward?

If you feel the answer is out of line, or don't want to answer, no problem. I just wonder about such things, that's all.

Hey snowleopard. I can answer that one for you.

We're all such good friends from years back that those things don't matter. The core team is three of us, recently expanded to four with Gareth our cameraman. He's ecstatic to get the opportunity to play with a Red One and, if I get off my arse and make something, I'll be 'borrowing' it too. The least we can do in return is help Karl when he has an idea.

The main thing, though, is just to get something made, whoever is directing. As a crew, we all benefit if we have more/better kit in our arsenal. For example, the radio station interiors were lit, primarily, with my own personal Dedolight kit. There's never a question of whether or not Karl can have them for a shoot. They're as much his as mine, as far as I'm concerned. We pool together and buy stuff when we can and, luckily, the only big thing we need to upgrade now is our track and dolly system. Although, a Red One on plastic piping from a hardware store is a pretty amusing sight...

Anyway, hope that answers your question.

Of course, Karl might disagree and tell me I can't play with any of the new toys. In which case, disregard everything I said and tell him from me his next short will be Dedo-less...

perfect for 'loss fest', I lost my spot lighting.

I'll just use my HMI's and shoot at f22 :p

OR my new lowel kit - yeh, whad'ya think about that?

Karl (we've got every F stop known to man in this film) Holt.

Hey sorry for being way late commenting on this, but...

Congratulations! Well deserved.

The music was great and this short was just beautifully shot. The empty street shots? Gorgeous! I love this kind of stuff. The mood, pacing... everything was just way solid. Tied with two others for my highest rating.

Awesome work!

All's good Yeen. I mostly just wondered how that might affect things, because I know there are productions where it has in the past.

Great film either way. Production design is near Hollywood level. Looks like a million bucks.

Woo hoo

Woo hoo

Finally darkline gets the recognition it deserves after so many near misses in previous competitions, congratulations on winning, you certainly deserve it !

After watching 'eddie loves you' a multitude of times it still shocks me you haven't been funded for a bigger & badder movie by now!
Now you have 'the red one' i'm sure the clarity & quality added to the great stories & acting will help as you've shown us in 'broadcast'

Always look forward to seeing more from you guys
