according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_film_formats you're probably thinking of the "natural vision" and "fox grandeur" formats from 1925.Can anyone here tell me what country or planet the video or film shooting is 20fps?

*lol* yeah 4/3 is closer to 35mm and the d90 than 35mm and the d90 are to the 5d, for example, and it's still much much bigger than any other video or small gauge film format. people don't have to like this, but it's always annoying when they hardly even believe you. it's math for god's sake. ;-)I think I know how mattias feels sometimes.
Maybe not with the 3/4" sensor that doesn't allow the vast majority of users to use their 35mm lenses without the immense crop factor. Not to mention the very slow manufacture zoom lens...
The 4/3 sensor is not that much smaller than your D90's sensor. It has an equivalent crop factor of x2 compared to your D90's x1.5; which is not that bad compared to 2/3's x3.8 crop factor.
Why so surprised + agitated? Did you really expect that Canon will push a Camera on the market with FHD-Video + manual control for around 700,- bucks? This is an entry-level dslr for people who wants to shoot here and there some moving pictures of their children in the garden or during vacations (and then 20fps are enough).

This market, the point and shoot parents and vacation people will be wondering why half their shoots have weird pulsing and flickering lights in them as the 20fps clashes with both NTSC and PAL.
...
To be honest I´ve never seen any stuff with 20fps. But did you take a look at the example on this site:
http://i.gizmodo.com/5182772/canon-...-50ds-sensor-1080p-vids-899-?skyline=true&s=i
I can´t realize any flickering... Anyway, would somebody of you consider to purchase this cam actually, if 24fps would be included?
Fantasy Land.
not really. both 100 and 120 (the number of light pulses per second in 50 and 60hz respectively) can be evenly divided by 20. it's actually pretty much the only frame rate that *doesn't* clash with at least one of them.20fps clashes with both NTSC and PAL
If the D90 didn't have the jello, and better bit rate, then i would splurge on more expensive wider lenses. Yes. But as it is right now, its still way too soft for me.
Car30, just saying this incase you aren't aware, but you seem very argumentative/defensive of certain things you say, don't know if they are actually coming out that way, but it seems to be at a read. Not that enjoyable some times![]()
i'm really sorry if i've made you defensive, something i'm really trying not to be myself. argumentative though, that's my middle name and i'm happy if it spreads. it's not unpleasant if you're used to it, it's fun and it makes you smarter.I think it's mattias's fault really
Ahhh....so THAT's your game plan. And here i thought you were just misunderstood.(and going for the argument itself actually helps bring out interesting stuff in discussions. it makes people defensive and then they reveal their true motives)

At $900 yes I would certainly purchase this cam if it had 1080p24 at the mark II 5D datarate.
