Canon is shooting a piece with the C700 and putting up some BTS for it! Some good gear porn if nothing else.

Sony A7s II.Which camera and lens was used to shoot the teaser of the BTS making of?
Eric, as far as I know, I THINK they are doing more than just this shoot.... with other DPs...Here are some more BTS videos:
Day 1: https://vimeo.com/185496216
Day 2: https://vimeo.com/185644748
So it looks like they're taking a camera aimed at feature films and TV shows, hiring a big name narrative DP, and...shooting a nature doc?
Sounds great!Eric, as far as I know, I THINK they are doing more than just this shoot.... with other DPs...

+1 hahahaWhat I want to see is the teaser for the BTS making of of the BTS camera test.
Just returned from the ASC event on the C700, where we watched the demo short and BTS, sniffed around the camera, ate barbeque and drank beer and tied Jim Martin's shoelaces together while he wasn't looking.
The film was impressive. No question the camera can make pretty pictures and the latitude is all there. After the 2k projected presentation we could look at it on Canon's new 4K HDR monitors and that was an impressive harbinger of things to come.
Overall pleased with the layout and ergonomics. It's like a fascinating hybrid of Canon C series and an Alexa. Which isn't a bad thing. The back half of the body and the menu layout is particularly Alexa-like, which at this point is more like a logical rectangle with things where you'd expect and the 6-item menu display with softbuttons that is now common to multiple manufacturers. This is a good thing. It's the appropriate form factor so it's good to see it being embraced. While it looks hefty, it's actually very light but it's nice to be able to pop it onto a shoulder.
The viewfinder bracket is not a winner though. That will be improved upon by a third party manufacturer, no doubt.
Good newcomer to the production camera world!
You're the one who did my laces!.......good seeing you, the C700s, and all the great ASC DPs at one gathering. To mimic Charles, the footage looked great and for all the outside shots, the majority were back lit with no fill or bounce used...impressive. In talking with Russell Carpenter ASC, the low light & sensitivity is so good, you have to watch for unintended bounce from areas you normally would never worry about. more later....

That said, yes, I wish they had given the camera to a director who would have shot something a bit more cinematic than a whiskey promo, maybe something with some characters and a plot? But the footage shows off the beauty of the skin tones and the latitude nicely.
