1DC: Canon 1Dx mkII to shoot 4k video, 5D mkIV not so much. Also: C100 4k witin 18 months?

I was talking more about the link below...an actual 1DC replacement...would be fantastic...
OK, gotcha. I haven't seen this prior to now. It makes sense.

Sony will probably make one within six months, as technically A7RII could be tweaked into one with a bigger body ... such as A99 ... which sort of looks like 1D X/C series.

Canon has that 50 MPX full frame sensor from 5DS/r too.

Supposedly, the official announcement will be next Monday/Tuesday (allowing for the time zones).

Is it normal that no images of the 1DXII have leaked yet?
Most people are under the impression that it'll look exactly like 1D X and 1D C (sort of like D5 basically looks like D4), maybe with a minor tweak here and there.

I don't care how it looks, haha...I just would like confirmation that it exists and someone out there is using it.

This came out on Digicame (a Japanese site that often gets the early info on the Japanese made photo-video products) ... the syntax is via Google Translate -

If true with DPAF then it is a true winner for movie, ( DA.......N I only just bought a A7s2 and DVX200 in Christmas)

Spec is not technically difficult to achieve with CF2.0 available now but more a financial issue for me to get 5-8hrs use of media

so what remain a secret is
1) C-log availability
2) 4:2:2 /4:4:4 /4:2:0
3) 8 bit / 10 Bit
4) MJPG / H264 /H265 / Prores

The cat seems to be out of the bag:

No mention of Canon Log or what codec. If it's consumer long GOP h.264 I'm staying with my 1Dc, no matter if it's 4k60 with DPAF.

Anything is possible but I'm leaning towards no Log profile. We'll see soon.

I would wait to see it out in the wild. I have learned to not trust Canon to be a video-feature leader. Would not surprise me if there are some gotchas that somehow stop the camera from being great on the video side. But at $6-8,000 how long can they keep the charade up?

…it's possible that 1DX Mark II will only output 4K 60P via HDMI 2.0

I don't see any reason to doubt the rumors that it is in fact 4k60 to internal CFast. Updated specs now also list FullHD 120fps.

But… that is basically iPhone specs if there is no picture profile or codec to go with it.

Why wouldn't this be the Canon usual MXF at 305 Mbps codec? It's still H.264 but is mostly deemed good enough for anything internal. Sony FS5 is still XAVC-L at 100 Mbps and one needs to get to FS7 to find XAVC-I, which is at 240 Mbps for 24p. It looks like MKII is very much in the ballpark here.

Well, it would at least be higly unusual, since it would then be the first DSLR to get it. I've already outlined my reasons for doubting it in an earlier post: DIGIC vs DIGIC DV. And now we know it's DIGIC 6+, not 7.

I want it to be that codec, but I would have expected it to be mentioned in such a complete spec list. Same goes for Canon Log. But perhaps Digicame are just photo oriented and failed to report those things.

I'm bracing for a higher bitrate 5DmkIII codec.

Dual 6+ though. Plus, they have MXF on their (currently priced) $2,000 camera. Which also has Log. I mean, if they have it on XC10, it'd be mind boggling not to include it on X MKII. Of course, sometimes the mind does boggle.

PS. 5D MKIV features depend as much on D80 - if there is such a thing - as on X MKII.

I would speculate that 6+ is same features as 6, but with higher compute performance. Not sure though.

The fact that the XC10 has features like Log and XF-AVC is, in my humble opinion, no indication at all as to what might land in the Dx mkII.

One is a DSLR and the other a video camera. Price has nothing to do with it. The XC10 has a ND-filter as well. And time-lapse.

I'd really like to see the time-lapse function make it's way to the Dx mkII...
