No, those instructions will not install the Blackout-Powell Native 24p Patch. To do so, download the zipped patch file from the link in the first post of this thread. Unzip the patch INI file into the same folder as PTool 3.51d. Then launch PTool and load the Panasonic firmware for your camera. You can then simply click the "B" button in the lower half of the main PTool window to patch the firmware with the complete Blackout-Powell Native 24p Patch. After doing so, click the Save Firmware button to save a copy of the patched firmware BIN file on your computer. Copy this firmware BIN file to the root folder of an SD card, and use it to update the firmware on your camera.
If your lens is really, seriously sharp, you will overload the camera, also if you have a sharp lens and increase the DOF to say ~F8. It just so happens that the 7-14 is a sharp lens, so cool, that is a great lens. Now with a really sharp fast prime, you can open the iris and still shoot at a high bit rate because only part of the image is in focus. Since many ppl using this cam want the shallow DOF, it is no problem
Also, you can just untick 24p and it will run like a rock. Personally, I like the 24p because the pulsing disappears and the image is amazing, but it is a small difference, I have many good videos where I applied the pulldown in post to get 24p.
Hi!, I have a problem. if it is not the place to be discussed, sorry. I tried almost all patches. While playing the mjpeg recorded videos ( both pal-ntsc) on computer, after 4-5 seconds, the audio goes away in every 2 seconds. it sounds intermittently. there is no problem at images but only in audio. Also, while playing on camera itself, there is no such problem. the audio is mellifluous. I have tried almost all kinds of mts players on computer. The results does not change? What can be the reason? Please help...
Now I am using B-P N 24p patch. It is amazing. to me the best pacth for avchd.
I did everything in the hack 24p; works fine in AVHCD fhd mode but in mjpeg hd mode I do not get 24p - but get 30p. Any guess why? I used the "b" setting too.

This sounds like your computer has a video synchronization or playback problem. As the videos play back properly in-camera, it is very unlikely to be a problem related to the GH1 patch itself. While playing the mjpeg recorded videos ( both pal-ntsc) on computer, after 4-5 seconds, the audio goes away in every 2 seconds. it sounds intermittently. there is no problem at images but only in audio. On Panasonic G-series cameras, MJPEG mode is set to always record at 30fps, regardless of whether it's operating in NTSC or PAL modes. More details can be found in the user manual.meinyvr said:...in mjpeg hd mode I do not get 24p - but get 30p.

I have tested CS5 extensively with the auto 60i/24p pulldown, and it just is not the same quality as doing a proper pulldown or Cineform codec. It plays OK, it looks OK, but it does not, at least on my machine, render out OK. But hey, even Neoscene will do the trick. Would love to get one od those 7-14 someday!
I don't have a manual sorry.
But I'm reading between the lines of what you are saying there is still a hardware limitation on getting 24p mjpeg to work with the hack. yes?
The two things I noticed were jaggies on straight lines and pulsing in static areas. Also, material around bright lights, like a lamp, looked weird. All problems went away using cineform or the native 24p. I was outputting to H264. This was on "one take" footage, no editing. But if you are editing, you are cutting into the pattern, if that makes any sense.
I would say if you take a lamp and some straight and curved line material (like a lamp on a piano) and you have zero issues, then you are probably OK. Some people have had good results doing the PD in After Effects, then bringing it into Premiere. I could see doing that, maybe with a non lossy codec. But for now, I will stick to Cineform or Native 24p as I don't want to examine my vid all the time to see if it has issues.
