Attaching Nikon lens to GH1

If I venture a guess it might be the microswitch for sensing that something is attached that is bit off on your particular camera. With no lens / adapter on you see it sitting right next to the release button on the front of the flange.

yes. i notice that when i dont have a lens on it works fine but if i press the microswitch it goes to black. but i lined up both my adapters and made a mark to make sure they line up and they do. maybe the hole isn't deep enough?

so on a vimeo forum i was told to unscrew the tiny little screw that is on the adapters and it worked for the yashica/contax adapter and haven't tried it with the nikon one yet! the screw doesn't allow it to fully rotate.

nikon adapter still doesn't work...even without the screw and the yashica/contax works but you have to find the sweet spot which is difficult.

wow, i was just to post the same thing that is happening to me as we speak with an adapter i just got from the same guys on ebay (hmmm, could this be a clue?), i just got this c-mount to gh1 adapter here, and the same exact thing happens, i took the screw out, still i see a black screen , if i hit record it will record for about 5 seconds than it will say the "lens is not attached properly" i have been using a nikon adapter for 4 month now with out an issue (bought that from a different ebay store), could this guy's adapter's be the main issue?
i just noticed, the adpter he advertise (the one i thought i bought has a c-4/3(g1) on it ,the one i got from his has RJ Camera C-M4/3 on it

If you paid by PayPal you can start a dispute and if the product does not do what's been promised, you will get your money back. You have to do this within 45 days after you paid.

would someone be kind enough to list a c mount adapter that has worked on the gh1, thanks, i already sent the guy from ebay an email telling him i want a refund.

I also had a problem with a c-mount adapter. When I attached it the screen went black. Attached to another GH1 it worked perfectly. My nikon adapter was working fine. Not sure what was the problem, but I think it has to do with the lens release button aswell.

I got mine to work

I got mine to work

Hi guys -

I just got my gh1 nikon mount adapter today - and I had the same problem. The solution was to remove the small screw on the adpter, and set the camera to working without the lens in the menu. I had the menu set right, but it was that small screw that kept screwing it up. I don't even know why the screw is on the adapter, it serves no purpose I know of. All is golden now.

Good Luck

in my case removing the screw for the c mount adapter did nothing, the guy from ebay agreed to refund me the money, but im paying for shipping back to china...

Alex, since both of our adapter were bought from the same guy, i have a feeling its this guys adapters that dont work.

that sucks. Mine shipped from china a couple days ago so wont be here for awhile. I will post my results once I get it in.

Update, got my c-mount adapter in and it's not working as I figured.

Yeah removing the screw did nothing.

Is there any c mount adapters that do work?

i have sent back both my nikon to micro 4/3 and my contax/yashica to m 4/3 both to china...lame but now i'm looking for new ones that actually work.

Did anyone ever come up with a solution for this? I have a 50mm 1.8 Nikkor sitting here waiting for a soon to come GH1. After reading this thread I'm wondering if I should send the Nikkor back.

Thank you,

Trey

Trey, you'll be fine. I had the same issues but switched camera modes and everything worked out fine. I freaked a bit at first when I first put (Nikkor 1.8 lens - same one you have) on my camera and got an error message saying it wasn't on securely connected or something. But someone suggest switching camera modes. I did and everything worked fine. LOVE my Nikkor 1.8 on the GH1 and you will too!
