    Good travel kit

I'm headed out on a travel shoot soon. I already have my camera, audio and sticks figured out, but the hardest thing is lighting. I have a DV Creator 55 kit with dimmers for every light, but it weighs about 45lbs by itself. I will be traveling to a remote area and walking with gear for a...

    Sony's new codec....

Interesting. I know a lot of people talk about RED's 'compressed Raw' as an advantage over the huge file sizes of Sony Raw. This might be a new weapon for Sony. Imagine if new Sony cameras (on the higher end) will be able to record this going forward...

EF to E mount adapter....with electronic control AND built in variable ND.

This is interesting. An adapter which would be perfect for the old FS100 or any other Sony E mount bodies. For example, you can buy the Sony A6000 for $398, and it shoots in 50Mb XAVC!! Add this adapter and you have from 2-10 stops of ND plus you can adjust iris and have built in IS. Pretty...

    Other: Odyssey 7Q+ and FS5????

Hey Mitch, Do you know anything about the possibility of the Odyssey 7Q+ being used with the new Sony FS5? I know Sony has announced 'upcoming' support for RAW and 4K output. I was wondering if you have discussed with them, the ability of this new camera to work with the 7Q+, much as it works...

    My guesses for NAB......

As I ingest and backup 6 hours of media from last night's shoots, and wait to read the news from NAB on Monday....I decided to start a fun 'guessing' thread. Now, let me stress, these are merely guesses. However, they are based on things I have read off industry people's social media...

    FS7: Sony 18-105 lens

Most of you have already heard my findings....but if you haven't, my new review of the 18-105 Sony G lens is now up. Great lens if you can deal with the 'fly by wire' focus and zoom rings. And surprising me, the 'distortion correction' worked just fine at HFR. Read more here...

Does your state do this? (Shot with Sony 18-105 zoom on FS700)

Got my new 18-105 power zoom lens in just in time (literally the morning of the same day I was hired for this job) so I could use it on a neat little holiday video for the new Governor of Alaska. Every year, a couple weeks before Christmas, the Governor's mansion is opened to the public who...
