I've been notified that things are running off the rails recently. Here's the deal: I broke my back, I'm in chronic pain, lots of other 2020 stuff to deal with, and frankly I just can't be bothered right now to go chasing down every moronic post by every self-righteous douchebag who thinks that...

Totally off topic, but -- seriously, I haven't seen this stuff available anywhere, not once, for months, not in stores, not online, not in Costco... Just For Men (the haircolor company) has a sister company called Williams, which started making 80% alcohol hand sanitizer gel and also wipes...

Anybody watching this? It's kind of interesting to see the evolution of broadcast TV during the virus. Last week was utterly unwatchable. Horrible home webcams for everything, no lighting, terrible echo. A thorough embarrassment. This week it's very different. Clearly they sent out memos...

This is the latest thing I am working on. Not much I can say beyond what's been officially released, but it's pretty cool and the campaign is now live so I thought I'd share it. Basically, we are sending some Galaxy S10s to the stratosphere, and uploading people's selfies to the S10 where it...

DVXUser member James Demo ("bosindy") has been having some substantial festival success with his documentary film The Peacemaker, which I was proud to help support. For our LA members, it'll be playing this weekend starting Friday.

This is a guy who gets it. And it shows. Sample quotes: This applies to filmmaking just as much as it applies to anyone else. I've met so many who are so passionate about their 'dream' to be a filmmaker... but they suck. It's sad. They waste so much of their life chasing after something...

Hey all, Panasonic just released a series of instructional videos I did for them on the UX180 and UX90. They're not super technical, but meant to be an easy reference as to how certain features work. There's a really simple network setup video, for example, if you're trying to get the iPad...

Hey, UX90 and UX180 owners, Panasonic is once again delivering my latest book for free, "A Guide To The UX90 And UX180 Camcorders". Visit their page to get your copy. http://info.panasonic.com/ux-series-e-book.html

Starting a separate thread to clarify the battery situation with the new Panasonic cameras. Panasonic has made three series of batteries in the last 13 years since the DVX100 came out. There's: 1) the original DVX100 battery, which worked on the DVX100, HVX200, HPX170, HPX250, AC90, and...

Hey folks, got my hands on a preproduction UX90 to play with, and one of the big questions I've had is: what's the real difference in terms of sensitivity and DOF between these various sensor-sized cameras? Since the big-sensor cameras (UX90 and DVX200) both are limited to no more than f/2.8...

Panasonic just sent this out: In MTV’s new scripted series, Mary + Jane, best friends Paige and Jordan (Jessica Rothe and Scout Durwood) navigate the trials and tribulations of being in their 20s, running an all-female weed delivery service in Los Angeles — all while trying to find romance...

As you may know, the DVX200 (and the forthcoming UX180, etc) can use a remote-control app called the R.O.P. Currently that app is only available for Apple iOs devices. I would like to gather some opinions as to what our typical DVXUser would prefer -- do you need the Android version? Are you...

Panasonic sends me press releases all the time, about who's using their products. I don't usually repost them here, but this one was interesting and involved an interesting-enough usage of the DVX200 that I figured folks might want to see it, especially those who are wondering about build...

Hey all, apparently there's been a mail-in rebate offer active for a few weeks now on the DVX200. Buy a new DVX200 between April 1 and June 30, and you can send in for a free extended-capacity (4-hour) battery and a high-speed dual-battery charger. *** EDITED - This offer has been extended...
