A long time ago I had read an interesting quote by a director/writer that I cannot remember what or who. I know that the quote was something along the lines of "The only truly creative time is writing. Everything after that is just a compromise of the original vision." Does anyone know what the...
I have seen discussion of this on here already and have found that most people say that you can use an LCD tv for a monitor as long as you are not trying to use it for accurate color reproduction. For example, I am just looking for a larger monitor to focus with and be able to let other people...
Here are some Solidworks renders of my rod support system. The only fasteners shown right now are shoulder bolts for the camera support. More of the tiny details will come later just for looks but I would like to get the main design done before doing this. This is about as far as I can go with...
So I am designing and building my own rod support system. I will have renders of the Solidworks Drawings up when I am done with the design, however, I am stuck because I cant find this part. I am looking for the little "L-Knob" that I assume an allen cap screw is pressed into and allows you to...
Just a thought: Since there always seems to be a problem with 35mm adapters losing a fair amount of light, would it be possible to somehow "backlight" the ground glass with white LEDs or something? Maybe shine them in at the edges of the ground glass?
Am I totally off base here? Has this been...
Okay really old post but...does anyone know of one of these setup sheets for the DVX100 or more specifically DVX100B (not really much of a difference so...)? Does anyone know of one or do I have to make my own?
I know that it is not a good habit to capture footage with my DVX mainly because it only wears the heads out faster. I used to use my old Sony TRV900 for capturing but recently it started jamming and I don't want to take any chances with important footage (like weddings and stuff that if it is...
I had to mix tapes the last wedding that I shot out of pure necessity. Two blank tapes that I had previously purchased (Panasonic AMQ because thats what I usually use) were somehow left at the church. Come reception time, I needed two tapes. All that I had available were two Sony (wet lubricant)...
I think that I remember reading somewhere that when you export a DV file as a tiff sequence, it will actually clip the whites because DV uses a 110% maximum and tiff uses a 100% maximum. Is this true or am I remember wrong?
I am in the process of creating my own 35mm adapter for my DVX. I love the look of them, but there are still a few shots that I can think of where I would not want to have such narrow DOF. Obviously I can just stop down but this can go too far and start to soften the image. Do you think it would...
Why is this? How does this phenomenon work and why? Also, if this happens, why can't you just leave the 35mm lens at full wide and stop down the lens on the camera when less light is needed?
I ordered The DVX Book about a week before I ordered my DVX because I wanted to learn more about the camera. After I got my camera I realized that there was a rebate included that allowed me to get a free DVX Book. I sent out for it so now I have two. Is it legal for me to sell the new one that...
So for those who dont know, melodyne is an amazing pitch/timing correction tool for audio. Check out the site for more information. I recommend downloading the trial versions just to see. I own it and it truly is amazing.
Anyway, what I want to talk about today is the new technology that they...

So, I got my dvx not too long ago and sent out for the Magic Bullet Editors. I figured that they would send just that, Magic Bullet Editors. For those who don't know, this is old software now. Red giant has updated it and it is now Magic Bullet Looks. I figured that I would just spend the $100...
Okay so I shot the footage in 24p advanced on a dvx100b. I batch reverse telecined in cinema tools. It worked fine except for the first frame of some of the final reverse telecined files. Only on some of the files (randomly) the first frame is interlaced. This only happened to some of the files...
Do the settings under Sequence>Settings>Video Processing affect the final output or export of the sequence or just the rendered video in FCP? In other words, if these settings are set to not very good for faster render times, does this compromise the quality of the exported file from compressor?
I was experimenting with the different sequence presets in fcp since I got my dvx100b and I noticed that in when set to the DV NTSC 48kHz - 23.98 preset, the quicktime video settings are set on dv/dvcpro (this makes sense) at 100% quality (makes sense) but then the scan mode is set to...
I had never heard of Bruce but I had left fcp open for around two days and low and behold Bruce the wonder yak came out to eat some grass and say some funny randomness. I did some research and found out how to bring him back because he disappeared after I clicked. So now Bruce is my avatar.
