So, I got my dvx not too long ago and sent out for the Magic Bullet Editors. I figured that they would send just that, Magic Bullet Editors. For those who don't know, this is old software now. Red giant has updated it and it is now Magic Bullet Looks. I figured that I would just spend the $100 for the upgrade from Editors to Looks. I also, was looking at getting Instant HD because it is cool and with the academic discount it is only $80.

Well, guess what. Today I received a large envelope in the mail with a CD envelope inside. The CD was for both Magic Bullet Looks and Instant HD. Free with the purchase of the dvx. Needless to say I was very happy and impressed.

Thank you whoever decided to include this with the dvx. You have one happy customer.

well rats.. all i got was a camera.... ... ^.^ but i'm stil very plesed with getting only that.. w00t

Ey, i got that too. Have you figured out how to get the presets working? cause it isnt for me, i cant even find them on my HDD.

The Look 2 suite? I think it was just in one of the filters, I love using the presets, especially combining some.

Does Instant HD really work well.. I have an HDTV with an upconverter HD-DVD player and was just wondering if footage would look good

Lets just say it works, we will leave it up to you to say if it does its thing well.... But if you output HD on an HDDVD, then yes it will look better then the Mpg2 DVD NTSC you would get from a regular DVD. But this is only with Plasma or LCDs..

Over uprez it. If your using AE for uprezing (like me) then set your comp to your output size (720 or 1080) and go up to even a 4K size with instant HD. then scale the layer down to fit in your comp and ramp all the settings up as high as they will go. It worked for me (dont have any examples tho).

And yeah, I cant find the presets for Look Suite anywhere. If someone who is running Premiere CS3 wants to chime in and tell me where they are....

wow! I always wanted a DVX and thought the footage could never look good on my LCD hdtv. So you guys think footage from a dvx would look as good as footage from a HDV Camera, with Instant HD?

oh.. I just done some math and I would come out cheaper going with the Canon XH-A1.. If i bought the DVX and instant HD I would have to buy After Affects just to run it. plus a buy a wide angle lens

Instant HD works natively with FCP also. If you are going for somthing that you need that extra resolution for the end result, the a1 is your baby, Both cams are just as capable as on another, just on shoot natively 1080x1440 and the other only does 480x720, Its a trade off, but I if I where buying now, I would go for the A1, it will give you some more hear room for CC, and it handle the color Red much better than SD DV.
